    Car won't stay running (searched)

I'll try to keep this short. I was driving on the highway (actually racing a 7 series) I hit 130 and BAM something that felt like a fuel cut, but with my tune I know I'm not governed. Coasted down to about 80 step on the gas and it felt like a misfire, and wouldn't accelerate at all. Dropped to 5th no acceleration. Dropped to 4th same thing, so I pulled over and then it just died.

After this my car would start for about and run for about 5sec. then die. If I stepped on the gas it would rev up but then die again. I did this like 15 times. It just won't stay running.

The most similar problem I've found through searching is a fuel pump. The thing is when you turn the ignition on you can hear a fuel pump cycle, and I still hear mine run a little so I don't think that's it. Further more I scanned it on the spot and it threw no code whatsoever. I've found a problem similar to this as well, but it was for an engine speed sensor. Which is something I just replaced about 6mos. ago.

All in all I'm not sure where to start here. MAF maybe? It's just the whole no code thing that's really buggin me out. Anything, any ideas at all will help me. So please post up. Thanks guys.

sounds like one of your hoses is disconnected. Same thing happend to me when my DV popped off. Exact same symptoms. Unplug your maf and see if the car stays running, if so, search for the leak!

So if I unplug the MAF and it stays running I should look for a leak? Or that means the MAF has gone bad?

Oh yeah I also found another post with similar symptoms. Old Guy answered it and said that it might be a coil in the ingition switch. I know Audi's can be real bitchy over small things but I find it hard to believe that only having 1 key would make it randomly die at highway speed...

Haha best of luck. I would guess and hope for that its just a leak. I would check the DV first, I have heard it popping off for a few people. Let us know tomorrow what you find!

Aw man you blew your manifold welds!1!1!!

It sounds like a fuel pump or fuel delivery - on the back of your fuel rail (near the firewall) you will see a black cap. Unscrew it and there is a valve - take a rag and push on the middle of the valve which will release the pressure in the fuel line - with the car on it should release an obvious amount of fuel and have some pressure behind it. If you have no pressure then you have a fuel delivery problem and more likely a failed fuel pump.

I could be the ESS, but with no codes, or MIL and since you just replaced it it's probably not the issue. How about a popped or split vac or IC hose?

Yeah I thought about check valves aswell. Cuz everytime I have a problem with my car it has something to do with a componenet in the check valve DIY. Which is why I started yankin that shit out.

And the win goes to Joshdub!! You were right, thanks dude. I ended up finding a disconnected IC pipe. The one right where the SAI used to be. Thanks for the help everyone. I never had that happen before.

So next time I'm stuck on the side of the interstate at 12am I'll check the pipes first lol.
