I have this 2000 audi and i got it timed correctly no all i have for compression is about 150psi cold engine one cylinder 1.. nothing on the 2 or 3/4th.. Does this sound like a bent valve problem or could it be some thing else.. Is this common to have compression in one cylinder and nothing in the others..

Need more information. What led up to this? Did you just change a head gasket, etc? Were you driving the car and then suddenly lose power.....

I found this car on craigslist and they owner told me it was a run and drive so i took a weekend and went to go buy it i got there the front timing belt was disassembled and the cam and crank gears are gone so now i found all the parts got it timed and now all i have is compression on #1. is this possible if the valves are bent on the rest cylinders.. There is no compression after 1.. I just dont want to take the head off to find out that its some thing else.. If it wasnt timed right then i wouldnt have compression on cylinder 1 either right..

Sounds like you may have some bent valves and maybe some pistons that are whacked. I would yank the head off and see what you have going on. I hope you got her cheap, real cheap.

yeah you are working with some bad bent valves at the minimum. hopefully nothing worse. take the head off. you can find used heads for around $400 or you can rebuild the one you have....

lets hope its nothing more than the head.

X100 on hoping you got the car real cheap. also did the seller disclose any of this to you? there is no way they could state it runs with 0 compression in 75% of the motor.

Did you ask what happened to the old t-belt...the smoking gun? Sounds like bent valves to me, too.

Yeh i was told it was a run and drive they are a action place dealer so i guess i could call back and talk to them.. I got there drove from iowa to east chicago.. I got there and the t belt was there but there was no cam gear and no crank gear and it was taken apart like some one started to work on it and stoped and must have tossed those gears away.. Also the audi t belt is gone and there was a gates new looking belt there.. My real question is if it has 150-160 psi at cold temp in #1 then it should be timed correctly.. And there is nothing in the rest so weird i was bumed. So what valves do you guys think it is intake or exhaust i am going to just buy the valves and replace them since the motor is 89K miles and spins flawless.. Is there any tricks to pulling the valves out i have regular valve compressor tool.. The C clamp looking one..

Yeah, you can use a regular valve spring compressor, but you will need to have a special little pusher device (depressor foot)to sit on top of the spring. At our shop we made one out of an old clutch alignment tool.

Here is a real tool. Look closely at the sliver end piece (depressor foot), it is a cylinder with 2 windows in it so you can install the keepers.
