    H&r springs install

Those of you with h&r springs, how long did your install take? My dealer just told me they need 5-6 hours. I've never done this mod before to my cars so I'm not sure but that seems like a long time.

Honestly, that sounds like a long time. My installer took somewhere around 2-3 hours.

took me around half that time with no previous knowledge of B-platform Audi suspensions. I would imagine a dealer would not take nearly as long, then again, you are asking them to install aftermarket stuff, so they probably are budgeting extra time

Most installers ive talked to rate it at 6 hours, thats what H&R has listed for the install time so thats what they go by. Had a quote of $600 to install springs at a shop in my area. thought that was ridiculous. What did you other guys pay for install?

I got my install done at time of purchase for free. I negotiated that they'd throw it in as part of me buying the car...

Woah! Thought the price of getting springs installed would be cheaper than that.

Anyone that's done it before could do it in about 2 hours [start to finish]. I did mine, granted I had a lift and everything in about 2.5-3 hours but I'm very particular. Make sure you get all of the bolts that need to be replaced first hand that way you'll have them. So of the bolts that you remove are a one use only and need to be replaced. Most shops won't say that you need to but for a few bucks it's better to just replace them as the repair manual says. Also, make sure they torque the bolts to the proper specs.

    I'm lovin' my GMG Springs.

Anyone here change the springs on a car with Drive Select?

I really want to do it but have heard it might cause long term problems with the Drive Select system.

    Thoughts?

Looks good! For the price, I think I'm leaning towards the same springs vs. the coilovers. It looks like a perfect drop.

coilovers actually take less time as you don't have to screw around with spring compressors and swapping springs onto the struts. They (can) also be alot shorter and therefore much easier to get in.

Yes, some ride comfort is sacrificed. Is it worth it for the look, stance and increase in handling? Yes, by far. Is the ride quality unbearable? Nope, not at all.

If your concerned about the ride quality [which that was my most important fact] when choosing springs. You should look at the GMG springs, they are a progressive spring and have a higher spring rate than stock. So the ride quality is top notch but when you need it in tight corner, they'll handle accordingly.

To tell you the truth, I was actually more than surprised after my first ride. Because I didn't notice any harshness at all and it actually rode better than stock which made me completely happy.
