    New Codes coming tonight

    Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
    Ok I'm sorry but I just couldn't bring myself to go back into module 9 yet.. I have spent probably 50 plus hours in that module and just can't bring myself to getting back into it yet.. BUT..

    Some interesting and useless/kinda useful stuff coming before the night is out.

    How about not having to have your seat belt on for the parking brake to release? Or not having your foot on the brake to release the parking brake (not my favorite). The one other I found is putting an annoying message on the screen to release the brake when your in gear but the brake is on (good for new drivers?).

    Anyways I'll be wrapping up soon, so I'll get those up shortly. There on my laptop in the car and I'm just taking a quick break.

    Nice

    #1 - Take delivery of car
    #2 - Find out how annoying some things are (eg parking break), lose some more hair, move onto step 3.
    #3 - Get VAG cable
    #4 - Fix them all :)

    Fine.... Assuming you have 3G Module 5F - Byte 4

    00 = Normal
    01 = Normal
    02 = S Model ie S4
    03 = RS

    Thanks for all the codes! I'm going to go try that "parking brake release w/out seat belt" one right now.

    Another good coding session. I know that I do not spend anywhere close to the amount of time you do with the VAG coding but I do seem to be down in the garage much more now that you've become the VAG coding extraordinaire. Thanks for these.

    Bit by bit I'll help Ross-Tech get our cars recorded. The more I find the easier it gets.

    It all works like a charm, as usual! The only complaint, albeit a very weak one, is that instead of including your customary step-by-step process with the MMI screen code, you just listed "00-03". Granted by now I figured out that everything is read from right to left and the first digit is "bit 0". I wasn't quite sure what you meant when you listed the four numbers once I was in there. Luckily I remembered how to count in hexadecimal so I just changed bit 0 from a 0 to a 1. Then the "duh" moment happened when I saw that the byte had changed after playing with the module for a bit. I guess I could have just selected byte 4 and changed the value from "02" to "03". Thanks for adding to my mod list (I really like the e-brake and seat belt mod) and ensuring that we are forced to think a bit. I enjoy having to think "outside the box" from time to time because then we don't become drones and being too reliant on people telling us what to do. Also, it makes me a bit more confident exploring in the modules. Granted, I did get a scare when the long chime occurred and the display read, "ESP failure" after performing the seat belt / e-brake mod. As usual it went away and the car does not display any DTC's. Thanks again.

    Good work yet again A few questions/comments :

    Module 53
    Adaptation:

    Channel 3 "Please Release parking brake" message while in gear 1 to disable
    channel 4 release parking break without brake pedal 1 to 0
    channel 7 release brake without seat belt 1 to 0

    3 - In the UK if I try to pull away with the brake on then I already get this message. I'm surprised you don't.
    4 - Scary - Makes me think what would happen if my 4 year old had free reign inside the car! Have you tried with ignition off as well as on?
    7 - I can do this already. I simply have to have my foot on the brake pedal when I manually turn on the Paring Brake. That's standard here too and I assummed elsewhere.

    Module 42
    Long Coding:
    Byte 2
    Bit 2 Disable window lock

    What does this do? What is window lock? Any ideas?

    p.s. I'm not expecting you to have all the answers. Just wondering if you knew. Thanks for sharing

    3 - We get release brake messages at different points but this one is strictly for putting the car in gear even without trying to move.
    4 - Not a fan of this one. I listed it but did not enable it on my car. No I didn't try it with the car off.
    7 - This makes it so you don't have to manually release the brake, just drive away as if your seat belt was on and it will release automatically

    The window lock one disables the button below the drivers window buttons. I don't see a big use for this one but it will disable the button so you can't lock the passengers out from using their windows.

    I generally will know most of the answers for the codes I find because I do test them all to find out what they do. I just may not try every scenario like the brake one with the car off.

    Hey David, I have a interesting result from the programming of the channel 7 to allow the e-brake to be released without the seat belt. I find that the e-brake will also release when using the accelerator pedal from a stop. Is this like the "hill hold" feature? I tested it out a couple of times in a parking lot and closed area. I would come to a stop, activate the e-brake, then accelerate normally. The e-brake disengages without me having to deselect anything. I am not sure if that was the case before I changed the coding but I definitely like this feature for a "just in case" situation.

    Audi claims thats the NA version of Hill Hold. You should be able to put it on when ever you want and drive away and have it auto release. It should have done that before provided you had your seat belt on.

    .... and the door shut ;)

    AFAIK that's just a standard feature of the ebrake. Hill Hold is the automatic application of the ebrake and not the automatic release.

    Ah, I did not do enough research on that. Of course I am coming from the school of thought to manually engage and disengage the e-brake so I thought the coding change had inadvertently added another feature. Darn. Thanks for the information though on the hill hold application.
