Question boost question searched but not getting the answer i need...

so i installed the awe vent boost gauge over the weekend and noticed that the boost isn't holding like my other car (TDI) does.

i have stage 2+ (TIP tranny with GIAC pump and Piggies & vibrant cat-back)

when i push it hard the boost will peak out at about 15 psi and then it will not settle anywhere during cruising (after hard accel to cruise)...instead it will just go down to near 0 or go into vacuum at 60 - 70 mph...

on the contrary, my TDI PD will hold the steady boost while cruising at 60 - 70 mph. at 13 - 15 psi...

    is this normal?

i checked all the lines and it check out fine...no kinks or anything...

could it be the breather filter in between the boost source tapping point and the gauge boost sender unit?

    help?

If you're not on the gas then it won't boost. If you're just holding a steady speed you shouldn't be boosting.

cruising you should be in vac. what's the problem? I have to admit that the original post is a bit hard to follow.

well...i guess i wasn't very clear on the OP but basically what i was asking is whether S4 will show the chargers under load(boost) while cruising...
i think i can deduce from what you all have posted above that it is normal. i've read things where folks here described and that sounded like i should've been under load (boost) while cruising.

Under load when you put your right foot down. If your engine was in boost at all time crusing, youd get 8mpg and alot of broken parts. With cruise control on, I see normally 10hg under cruise.

    So that's 10 hg in vacuum...right?
I think that's about what I see on a normal flat road cruising.
