    Seafoam question.... I searched!

Ok I read through about 20 different sea foam threads, and didnt get a definitive answer on my questions. My car runs good, but doesnt idle as smooth as i think it should. Its got 100k on it, and I am not sure if the first owner seafoamed it or not, so I figured id give it a shot. My first question is this.... I just changed my oil ($75 bucks) like 500 miles ago, so obviously I am not going to put it in the crankcase yet. If i put it in the gas, and suck it up through the vac lines, is it going to affect my oil at all? I wouldnt think so, but I want to be sure. Also, I have seen several different opinions on which vac lines to use. My car is a 2000 with the ATW engine. Is this http://www.audizine.com/forum/showth...ow-To-Sea-Foam info pretty much considered gospel, or is there a better way to do it? Should I have any LEGITIMATE concerns about doing any damage to anything, like gaskets, o2 sensors, etc? Anything else I should know before doing this? I know the product has been on the market for years, and most people have had great results. However, there are a few horror stories out there that have gotten into my head, and I just want to make sure im not gonna do any damage to anything. Thanks guys.

no it will not affect your oil. unless you have some leak you dont know about! seafoam will not harm any gaskets or o2 sensors, it will burn clean. but like i said. if you have a leak that you cant see and carbon is keepin it not leaking. the seafoam will loosen all that up.

that DIY looks pretty to the point. GL

ive used it numerous times on different cars, never had any problems, i doubt it will get into your oil from using any of those two methods

I Seafoamed my 99 AEB last spring and it worked great. Used the front vac line like the DIY. One bottle in the gas before fillup and sucked about 1/3can through the intake. I haven't gotten around to putting it in the crankcase. The only issue I got was a CEL that cleared itself up after about a day, 3-5 starts. good luck!

I've used it several times (gas tank and intake) over the past few years on my B5 and BMW 330i with no problems whatsoever. I've only used it in the crank case once on the BMW due to some sludge. A lot of short trips for the BMW. Use it in the intake and gas tank only if unsure.
