clicking

Ok so this all started last night, i got in my car and turned the key on, click click click, like the battery was dead. The check engine light came on, so i kept the key in the on position till the clicking stopped and then i cranked her over and drove home fine......This morning no luck< same prob going on with clicking and check engine light>>Car will start but it has no power, almost like its choking>>>>I have stopped everything till i can get it scanned>>>>>>NEED TO FIX ASAP, ANY SUGGESTIONS?????? 1999 a4 1.8>>>>

So now the vehicle is in the shop and they pulled the codes>>>didnt tell me exactly what thye code was, but he said something about the throttle???
Guess when they call me and tell me its done,its done.....my car would start but never get to idle,like it was choking>>>>check engine light flashing, and a click,click when turning the key to on position>>>>>>>im taking suggestions?
