Sherif 3.0l build, now with final pics

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
I'm gathering parts since a while for this build and my appointment at Rombotis tuning is in less than 10 days so I'll start the thread

History and spec of the actual car.

I bought it in 2005 as a 2001.5 S4 with 36 000km 6 speeds, sport package and xenon, but it was a 2000 A4 swaped :S the car only had a chip and Koni coil over back then.

    Current mods to the car

Tial GT2554 turbos (used as protoype for the tial 650)
    Tial 2 1/4" inlet pipes
    siemens 60lbs 630cc injectores
Ford Lightning 90mm air flow meter
    Garett Bar&plate 12x26x3.5" FMIC
    Walbro 255 lph fuel pump
    Samco sport hose kit
    4 bar fuel pressure regulator
    2 1/2" catless downpipes
    ASP true dual catback
    South Bend stage 5 clutch
    Fidanza flywheel
Custom alu Y pipe (larger than RS4)
    APR R1 diverter valves
    RS4 camshaft
    ECS lw pulley kit
    AC deleted
    Eurodyne tuned
Kosei K1TS 17" wrapped in Falken Azenis
    Koni coilover
    H-Sport anti sway bar
    AWE DTS
    034 track density engine/tranny mont
Stern center and resr diff mount/bushing
    APR snub mount
    HD tie rod end
    AWE pedals
    Fiber Image trunk lid
    M3 lip spoiler
    Clear corner
    chromed mirror cap
    RS4 grille
    JHM trannt rebuild kit
JHM short shifter, linkage, and shifter bushing
    Stasis 4:1 center diff.
    AWE pod boost gage
Zimmerman cross drilled disk and Hawk HPS compound pads

here's pics of the car right now

And here're the parts I have in stock that are going on the car soon.

    B6 3.0l crank
Supertech 82.5mm piston, 8.8:1 CR coateds skirt and designed to go with a 3.0l crank
    Rosten rods
    GURUMAN agtronic GT2860RS turbo kit
    GT28RS Vbanded turbos
Agtronic tubular manifold (Vbanded for the wastegate and ceramic coated)
    3" stainless downpipes (Vbanded)
    Tial 44mm external wastegate
    dump tube
    inlet pipes
034 anti-friction coated bearing (all of them)
2.8l heads (34 000 km on them, ported to match gasket)
    2.8l HG
    supertech inconel exhaust valves
    Supertech titanium retainers and springs
    Devil's Own methanol injection kit
RS4 intake manifold with TB port ported to 80mm
034 DBC throttle body and conversion kit
    034 80mm TBB
ARD coated bi-pipes ( 2"1/4 and already tapped for Meth)
Vast high flow electronic fan kit
    Vast oil catch can kit
    Ferrea stainless intake valves
    Vast phenolic intake spacer
Energy suspension bushing for the DTS
Clutchmaster sprung FX850 twin disk clutch
USP metal salve cylinder and stainless steel lines
    RNS-E
Tilton proportioning valves for running with no more ABS
    Moroso catch cans with breather
    lot of seals and gasket...

Parts bought after the beginning of the build:
034 fuel rails, 034 fuel lines, bosh 044 in tank pump, walbro in line pump, aeromotive FPR, 034 fuel pressure gauge, poished HRE 540R in 19", raceware man stud, 034 non stretch head bolts

So I think that's it for now
Mike will also change the fuel lines and do the tune and I'm waiting for 034 fuel rail from Issam but that's it for now. Once it's done I'm going to get the car painted audi "brown teak metal" and I'll put the car on nice wheels (just had a deal from a guy here with mint 19" HRE 540R )

big thanks in advance to GURUMAN for being such a nice guy always glad to share infos with us, who did me a great price for his turbo kit and who did bring the B5 platform one step further(IMHO). And thanks to Mike Rombotis who'll surely do a great job on my car, I think he's one of the main reason for the succes of Guru's builds, I wouldn't want anyone else to take care of my car

more info to come as the build start, sorry for the weak english, I'm not 12 years old I'm just french ;)

I'll verify they have no shaft play (24 000km on them) and if they are still good I'll sell them.

Asking price will be 2500$ for the turbos and inlet, but already 3 persons interested here... if none of the 3 take them they'll end up in the classified

here you go for the Y pipe, it was done by Tapp in Ottawa and cost me arround 100$ back in 2006

One more week, Seb, and the work will begin! It'll be fun to see how your setup will compare to Guru's, regarding the Motronic vs 034 IIc.

You've already done a lot Dom, more than I could've asked.... but I'll take any additionnal help :)

For your record, to be honest if I can do some 10 sec with my South Bend clutch it woud be nice... but I don't want to destroy anything(not enought budget if things start to fall apart) and the SB clutch have to hold for at least one full year, living at 500km from Mike is nothing to help me also... but no worries I'll track the car

if you have another car just stomp on it.. hahah dont hold back, i want to see that 10.50 i just always had a hard time beleiving a single plate will handle that much power.

you guys have a minor advantage being only a couple hundred feet above sea level.

when do you plan on having this done sherif?

I don't know and I don't care for the time it get to be done... I prefer Mike to take his time and do everything right while the car's there as I'm not able to go back in Montreal as often as I'd like.... oh and I will have my driver license back only on june 10 anyway

but seriously thing seem to meve very fast, I let thecar there sunday afternoon, monday the mecanic was out, tuesday the block was at the machine shop... and machine shop won't take one full week to get the job done. We will have to wait for the heads... I sent them to a old machine shop owner who may not work very very fast, and who may just send me to hell if I try to push him... but I want him to do the job as he did great head job and he charge me a very good price

any time frame question should be directed to Mike as everything is in his hands and there's no rush for this to get done in a rush on my side... other than machine work, we will probably also have some delays when ordering some parts, I still haven't received fuel rail from Issam and the walbro fuel pump should not be enought

Seb, just keep your tire pressure way up until you get your launches and your engagement dialed. then slowly lower them. you will spin alot. then you will spin less, then you will hook. you need to just find the fine line where YOU are comfortable and feel its the best launch you can get and be consistent for you.

you wont break or kill clutches until you get nervous and dump too fast or slip too much. remember you first few runs, maybe your first 10 need to be shake down runs, not just for the car but for you too. you are about to have some serious power and there is nothing wrong with granny launches and lifting at the 1/8th a few times before you go balls out.

you have a very impressive list of parts going into your build. i'm just curious ... why didn't you employ a crank girdle as well? these builds always excite me, so i'll be keeping tabs on this one.
    Because S4 = Hooker
Both can be purchased for cheap, and after one night of reckless, risky fun, either can be found lifeless on the side of the road. Your family is disappointed and concerned once they find out you've picked one up. Not to mention you try to hide how much money you routinely give one from your significant other.

too lazy for doing the girdle... I prefered to save some $$$ and save some real PITA for Mike. Dom also told me the girdle was the thing he regreted the most on his build, I guess he still had a leaking upper oil pan at the end... so I just decided to trust those who already did it and just don't go in the hazzle of the crank girdle

    agreed.

Hey Seb. Is that my engine AKA guruman's old, that i've seen on the table in the first pics?

Thank's for keeping us updated. Nice pics and serious parts you're putting in. Way to go Sherif and Rombotis guys.

You know what? I think it would be nice to have a race for fun. Me against you, against GURU LSblock. That would be funny as hell. We could do that at ''pont rouge'' track in my area, Quebec city, which is between you and GURUMAN. and go out after.

I don't know when mine is going to be finished tho. I'm still in the process of gathering parts.
