Is -8AN (1/2") line big enough for a catch can.

    Hey ziners

I been reading up on this oil catch can thing and have a question. I plan on using the 034 block breather adapter and running that to a T at the valve cover and then into a vented can.

would 1/2" (-8AN) lines be large enough to vent both the block and valve cover or will i have issues causing gaskets and seals to leak?

Please help me out with this and im sure it would help out others too.

I was going to run the 034 block breather to a -8 adapter, run a line from there to the valvecover (tapped with a -8 T bulkhead fitting) then a line from the T to a catch can thats vented to atmosphere.

I am a bit confused about running it to atmosphere or using a sealed can and pulling vacuum from the tip. also wasnt sure on the size of the line i need to run.

    thanks for the help

I was always under the impression that the lines needs to be sized specifically, due to the vacuum pressure. Guess I was wrong.

-8 AN fittings typically adapt to 3/8" lines, while -10 AN fittings adapt to 1/2" lines. I would go with a -10AN.

On the russell performance site it shows the conversion differently. It says that the -* is equivalent to the "*" being the numerator of 16.
so -16 would be 16/16 of an inch. -8 would be 8/16=1/2 inch. -10=10/16=5/8" and so on. I know that might not be completely accurate but thats what it shows on the site.

    bumping this up...

Still need to know if -8 is enough. (running -10 isnt much more expensive, just need a bulkhead fitting for it and i cant find any) Also need to know if i should run vented or sealed. I know most run it vented but read on other turbo forums to run it sealed as the vac will help vent the crankcase by "pulling" out the air/contaminants.
