Would it be the high pressure pump or the cam follower or what would be the fix?

Hm, this is the nightmare code to chase. What are your mods? If you are encroaching on a proper Stage 2+ I'd suggest checking the gap on your plugs. If you are less than that, you might as well check your gap but this code typically leans to a new fuel filter or HPFP.

So, what is your current setup?

I started getting fuel cut on the highway at WOT a few weeks ago and sometimes I would throw the same code. Only 22k miles on the car and Stage 2

Just started doing it, trying to figure it out. Talked to the service manager at Stoddart and they can't figure it out. :/

    Here you go:

    "Symptom:
-Fuel cut-out when driving, esp. under WOT.
-Fuel cut-out symptoms range from soft pulsations of power to long-pulse bucking while in high-gear high-load situations (high gear at WOT, or up a grade). MIL may flash if cut-out is severe. Car will also go into hard-limp (no boost, 4500RPM limit) if severe enough.
    -MIL ON
-P0087 Fuel Rail / System Pressure - Too Low
    -P1093 Fuel Trim 2, Bank 1 Malfunction
-P2293 Fuel Pressure Regulator 2 Performance

    Solution:
Increase surface hardening of camshaft lobe for the high pressure fuel pump. Improved intake camshafts

straight from the Sticky, "Common problems..." I'd pull the fuel pressure pump and check the condition of the cam follower and the cam shaft lobe.

Curious as to what you found? I have an 06 A4 S-Line 2.0 as well and am experiencing the exact same problem.

i just replaced my cam follower and after i started the car i noticed fuel spraying out of one of the hard lines going to the pump
so i tightened it and fixed that up
when i got in the car i noticed i had a cel which turns out to be p2293
so i figured it was because of the fuel spraying out and went ahead and cleared it
drove around for about 20 min and the light did not come back on
i didnt drive the car very hard but i also didnt notice any sort of power loss or anything like that...

so was i correct in thinking i got the code from having one of the fuel lines spraying fuel out of it?
