I can get rns-e for $600 and I also want to chip my 04 1.8t, which will probably cost around $600 as well. Cant decide, what should I buy first???

the chip. you'd probably like it more in the long run. rns-e is just a cool little navigation feature

depends if you want to choose comfort vs performance. which can you live without for a little longer? i mean i would go with rnse just because i dont plan on doing many performance upgrades for now and as my b6 is my DD i dont need the chip as much as i would like to have the convenience of a navi. just my opinion.

The seller of rns-e has good feedback on ebay.de. Looks like he is selling only navigation units for different cars.

Having both of those mods, for me, going stage 1+ was much more bang for the buck than getting the rns-e. Everytime i boot in gears 1-3, you get a nice push into your seat, nothing insane, but there is more power than stock. Also if your gonna chip, I would suggest going stage 1+ with the injectors as it will be a more noticeable difference. Than you can add HFC/testpipe for not too much more once the funds are available.

    go with the chip.

if you really want nav get a motorola droid (or any android platform), not only will it be cheaper, it uses google maps so you don't have to purchase a new DVD every time they change a road. not to mention it's a badass phone.

Its simple. How high would you say you rev your car.

Do you ever go over 5000rpm? Well then get a remap to give you more umph,

If you rarely go over 4000 rpm get the RNS-e.

$600 for an RNS-E . . . if it includes everything, adapter cable, sat. receiver, nan disc, etc . . . then that's a really good deal. FYI.

Can't you get a GPS for like 200 bucks? How about a 9" netbook for 200 bucks and a $50 GPS dongle? $600 for nav system seems steep. You could almost do a whole carputer for that much.

you will never find another RNS-E that cheap, specially with all the proper harnesses... I'd go the Sat-Nav, then save up for your chip.

I've noticed that people forgot to mention a key point in this. If your car is FWD, do not get the chip. It'll kill your transmission. Now if you do have Quattro, then your car can handle the chip. Additionally, you need to usually get new injectors and/or a DV for a good chip. Don't waste your time on stage 1 and 1+ chips. I'd say go straight to stage 2, in which you DO need new injectors and a DV, along with other stuff. A stage 2 chip and the mods you need with that are gonna go over $600. I would say go with RNS-E or save up for a good chip.

In that case, save up your money and get, for example a Revo Stage 2 with TT225 injectors and a Forge 007 DV, and then a FMIC eventually.

Buy the RNS-E and save up for a BT since you'll end up wanting more power anyway.

The FWD CVT transmission gets annihilated by the extra torque added with even a stage one flash.

That's a tough one. I lubs my RNS-E, but I also love my Dahlback S2 setup.

I'm going to say RNS-E. If you were going S1+, I'd say chip, but if its just S1, do the navigation. You'll like it.

I chipped my AR stage one last week, what a difference the car behaves. Far more bang for the buck than RNS, plus those will come down further in price.
