    transmission drain plug tool question

    Does someone know what is the size of the 12 point star like bit to remove the transmission plug on b5's?

    (I alredy searched/asked in the transmission forum with no succes)

    I don't think 1/2" is correct, this is an Audi, not a Ford. I have the tool in my garage but I have three other sizes and I don't remember which one I ended up using.

    It is pretty hard to find. Most places have it on special order because triple squares aren't so popular that large. As such, we stock them and they are available here, click click. As you can see from the picture, they are huge!

    yes the 12pt star is a 16mm with a hole in the center. the hex key is 17mm from memory.

    Thanks for the correction, i found a site that said 16mm and 1/2..i thought they were equal but there not.

    ok i saw in my hanes manual that the trans axle is what you need to drain if you want to change the transmission fliud because they connect... correct me if iam wrong... what tool does that use?
