transmission drain plug tool question

Does someone know what is the size of the 12 point star like bit to remove the transmission plug on b5's?

(I alredy searched/asked in the transmission forum with no succes)

found the answer to my question, its a 1/2"

I don't think 1/2" is correct, this is an Audi, not a Ford. I have the tool in my garage but I have three other sizes and I don't remember which one I ended up using.

Simple enough question. If it is like mine (I have a 98), it will be a 16mm XZN (triple square)

yes the 12pt star is a 16mm with a hole in the center. the hex key is 17mm from memory.

Thanks for the correction, i found a site that said 16mm and 1/2..i thought they were equal but there not.

1/2" is the ratchet size.

ok i saw in my hanes manual that the trans axle is what you need to drain if you want to change the transmission fliud because they connect... correct me if iam wrong... what tool does that use?

That have this tool on amazon $12 bucks go get it!. Its also a 3/8" drive
