    Bilstein PSS10's installed 2010 Audi S4

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
Well I'm starting to personalize the Audi a bit.

First up on the mods Bilstein PSS10's

I was pretty skeptical at first as I had PSS9's on my 03 Audi RS6 I would have probably preferred KW's on that one, took the leap on the PSS10's and have to say I'm extremely happy with the decision to go with the PSS10's on the B8 S4.

    Take a look.

    The PSS10's:

    Fronts out

The dial is a huge improvement over the PSS9's

The fronts are in (just about)

Front of car after we dropped the car off the lift (definitely too low)

Before rear (sorry pretty bad shots)

After rear (sorry pretty bad shots)

    Before fronts

    After fronts

After a few miles the car settled and we had to adjust it a few times to get it right, I experienced some rubbing with 3 in the car so we raised it and took the front wheel liner bolt off.

After shot with final adjustments and Menzerna Power Lock

Thanks Drive Auto Works in Lydnhurst, NJ

I put about 400 miles on it and they are great! Ride quality is I feel better than stock, the feel is firmer and the drive is more confident.

I'm thinking about doing sways when they come out ....

The setting is on 5 and suits me fine in the conditions we are in NY, NJ.

looks fantastic, I'm tempted to do the same. Do you have the MMI or the Drive Select? If so, how does this deal with the system? Since the car adjusts the suspension while driving...

Looks great, Phil! You say you removed the front fender liner bolt, but did you also roll the fenders nice and flat? In my experience, that definitely helps to hold the liner in place.

Nice, can you show more pics of the tuning knobs after they are mounted on the car? Also, hope you don't mind sharing your stiffness settings front and rear (sorry, I checked and saw your setting beting 5). Thanks.

What about the alignment??? Very important, I changed suspension o my S4 to (B16 Coilovers) and after the installation we had important differences.

You do not happen to know how many turns or how far up is the spring to achieve that drop? I am about to install the PSS10's on my car.

Can you adjust the ride height on the rears with out taking them out? I know that was a PITA on previous cars, I installed some coils on my B7 S4 and we inverted the spring and spindle in the rear so the ride height can be adjusted with out removing the parts.

    thanks

I would definitely suggest completing a Full 4 wheel alignment once the suspension has settled ! Will make all the difference !

george I'm not too sure of the exact height or turns. as for the rear its a pain but its doable with the rear wheel off.

Phil, can you give us a review of how the car handles now? Has it flattened out the body lean when cornering? How is the ride compared to stock?

I'm looking at coilovers but I'm concerned about rebound and if these (or other coilovers) are made specifically for the S4 or not. Too many companies are listing their coilovers for the A4 and S4 and using the same part numbers.

I have the car set up on 6 all around and its rides extremely well for my taste. its flat and there is definitely less body roll.

if you were around I would bring you on a test drive.

Thanks.... So no rebounding issues? No bouncing? I want a firm ride that is not harsh and still retains some of the OEM ride quality but allows me to drive the car and push it harder than the stock suspension allows. The OEM suspension is simply too soft for my taste and the body roll/lean is horrible.

Any plans on getting a rear swaybar? That is something I want as well.

Can you tell me what the increments are for height adjustment? Is it 1/16", 1/8", 1/4", etc.... of an inch per adjustment? Perhaps it's threaded and therefore almost infinite? I've never had coilovers before so I don't know exactly how the height is adjusted.

Should be about $300 (3 hr) install of the PSS10 and maybe $150 (1.5 hr) for alignment.

I don't know about the upper control arms.

that is way to high, double if not triple what most people pay. Who ever is doing your work for you is basically ripping you off.
