    Need help troubleshooting P0089

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
2007 A4 2.0T auto. 30000 miles. I got a CEL "P0089 Fuel Pressure Regulator 1 Perform" and "P0441 EVAP Control System Purge Flow Fault". Rpm's were fluctuating around 2000 mark. After I read up on these forums I replaced the cam follower (06D-109-309-C) and new seal. It had slight wear on the follower but cam was perfect and pump shaft seemed fine too. But the code comes right back. I have replaced the low pressure sensor (06F-145-710-G) as well as the N80 valve(06E-906-517-A). Originally I had the P0087 code but after replacing the fuel pressure sensor (06E-906-051-K) it replaced with the current P0089 code. Other than the fluctuating rpm's when I am accelerating slowly there are no other symptoms. Any ideas what could be the problem?

PCV? Or coilpacks? I would check both.

You might want to ask or search vwvortex. Remember our engines are the same, and there are many more VW's on the road.

    Possible Causes

    Hi,

I have a copy of autodata which throws up a possible cause for your problems. I am no mechanic so other than what this says i would have no idea but i hope this helps you.

    P0089:
Fault Location: Fuel pressure regulator 1 - performance problem
Probable Cause: Fuel pressure regulator, mechanical fault

    P0441=
Fault Location: Evaporative emission (EVAP) system - incorrect flow detected
Probable Cause: Hose connection(s), intake leak, EVAP canister purge valve

I have been getting the same P0089 code for the last 1 1/2yr and was told by a very knowledgable Audi tech that if after replacing the low pressure reg on the HPFP that its the regulator on top of the pump, and the only way to fix it is to replace the entire HPFP... I'll be testing this theory soon when I replacce my stock HPFP with the APR HPFP....

Anyone know if there is a Fuel Pressuer Regulator adaptation that has to be done after replacing these parts? Thats my thinking.

No, no luck troubleshooting this yet? Glad I didnt buy a HPFP yet since it apparently wont fix this problem. Been clearing the codes for the past few days and see that The fuel code comes back teh same day but evap code takes a few days to appear.
