    Unreal find in my honset opinion from member C99 on the A5 Owners Club: http://www.a5oc.com/forums/showthrea...568/index.html

    I'm assuming this will work with the S4, so figured I'd share the love.

    This enables a menu in MMI to select from Comfort, Auto or Dynamic even if you did not purchase this option. It's quite superb. Here are the instructions for those who don't want to read the thread. I figured out how to make it work for 3G - most is the same, couple of tweaks in the hidden menu.

    Activate Audi drive select individual in MMI:
    for MMI 2G go to secret menu and in Diag settings, Car menus maske, check Carisma and go down to Accept changes.
    Restart MMI.

    for MMI 3G go to the secret menu, Select "Car" menu, Select “cardevicelist”, scroll down and check Carisma.
    Now, go back, and still in the "Car" menu, select “carmenuoperation”. Scroll down to Carisma. It will be set to 0 you will change it to 1 then push the scroll wheel to set it.
    Restart MMI.

    Nex (same for both 2G and 3G) Coding 09-Central electric:

    for carisma engine only
    Byte 7, bit 5, change 0 to 1
    Byte 8, bit 2, change 0 to 1
    Byte 17, bit 7, change 0 to 1

    After this coding channels 63 - 66 are enabled (before this they are not available)

    [09 – Cent. Elect.]
    [Security Access - 16]
    [Adaptation - 10] -> Channel 63
    change to 04

    [Adaptation - 10] -> Channel 64
    change to 04

    [Adaptation - 10] -> Channel 65
    change to 04

    [Adaptation - 10] -> Channel 66
    change to 04

    heh - so if you didn't purchase Audi Drive Select or the Sport Differential, what good does this really do? Allows you to change the steering firmness and the throttle response? So what?

    The sport diff and the adjustable dampers are what really matter here - so I'm not sure what the real benefit is here.

    Indeed - that's one way of looking at it. However, for me (with a tiptronic), I quite like having the option now for improved throttle response, and shift changes as well as steering firmness. Fact is - this give me an option I didn't have. And it may well do the same for others...

    You should still be able to control steering feedback and throttle (as well as shift points and speed with a DSG).

    Ok I was able to get into the coding. I set everthing 63-66 to 4 but mine is still greyed out. It gives me a ton of options but I can not select them. I think I have to play with the coding some more, or hopefully someone figures it out

    Ok, I hit a brickwall at the first move. I tried to go into controller 5F to bring up the secret menu, but my VCDS ( latest sw version) brings up an error ; "No response from controller". So I hence can not even get to the hidden menus on my MMI.

    Lastly, who can explain the difference between 2g and 3g. I have a symphony radio without nav on my 2010 S4. What MMI do I have?

    Thanks

    Do you have 2G or 3G? If you have 3G, try this link instead: http://trick77.com/tools/mmi3g_vimcode.php

    Hidden menu has to be activated - see here: http://a6retrofit.tripod.com/articles/a5vagcodes.html

    Hidden menu: C99 reported (http://www.a5oc.com/forums/showthrea...x.html?p=32223) in an A5OC.com thread how you can access a hidden maintenance menu via MMI. (This may require the "real" MMI 2G, it may not work on a Concert/Symphony radio and MMI 3G hidden menu is enabled differently, see below. See here for more on the "real" MMI vs. radios: http://a6retrofit.tripod.com/articles/a4a5realmmi.html).

    Apparently you can access this hidden menu by holding down CAR and SETUP for five/six seconds. There are whole host of settings you can access here, like adjusting MMI timings, visible options - apparently you can even adjust the TV blackout speed or remove it. I hear you can also make CAR menu selections appear without speed limit. WARNING! According to reports don't select "Bootloader", it will lock the system in a software update mode without a way out (http://www.a5oc.com/forums/showthrea...x.html?p=38153)... Some general info on the same/similar hidden menu in A6 is here: http://www.motor-talk.de/forum/aktio...7283&ajax=true. If this menu doesn’t work and your MMI version is up to date, you need to enable the menu with the following VAG-COM steps: Head unit controller (07), Adaptation, Channel 8, change 0 to 1, Save.

    In the new MMI 3G, the hidden menu is enabled by setting device 5F adaptation channel 6 value 0 to 1 (http://audiforum.us/mmi/12110-hidden...available.html and http://www.motor-talk.de/forum/hidde...7#post21109533). Screenshots and further MMI 3G info here: Unlocking the MMI 3G hidden menu (http://www.trick77.com/2009/07/23/un...3g-hidden-menu). (The audi-portal.com also mentions here they will unlock the MMI 3G hidden menu for a price, although that seems moot now that a free solution is available: http://www.audi-portal.com/en/retrof...ricks_002.html.)

    WARNING! There have been reports of MMI 3G Navigation Plus systems loosing their navigation data from the hard-disk after accessing hidden menu this way. The reports suggest it could be caused sometimes by just changing the adaptation channel or perhaps because a wrong adaptation channel (near the channel 6?) has been changed erraneously. Anyway, whatever the cause, the result has been navigation claiming invalid data and error scan revealing Navigation Data Not Present error, requiring either replacement of components or reload of data at dealer judging from early reports. Just an example of what can go wrong with VAG-COM, although this seems to be very rare... See "TPMS just programming?" http://audiforum.us/b8-platform/1207...amming-13.html onwards and "MMI3G Navigation Data Not Present error!" http://audiforum.us/mmi/13067-mmi3g-...ent-error.html for more.

    Hey Zee - Question...

    So my S4 has only the Rear Diff and not Audi Drive Select option...

    Is this post/topic referring to the ability to unlock ADS and being able to further adjust/customize the individual settings or is this post/topic for people that have ADS and now can do more tweaking?

    This is for those who don't have ADS or Sports Diff really. It enables (via the MMI) adjustability to the throttle response, steering firmness and gear changes (for tip).

    Ok - so I have a 6spd with Sport Diff and in the "individual menu" I have the Steering Wheel, Engine & Sport Diff all set to Dynamic for the Individual setting...am I covered or am I missing any extras not doing this mod, etc?

    Thanks!

    Well after working with the codes with Zee (thanks again man, your great!) We were able to unlock engine, steering, suspension and sport diff all selectable!
    Your coding should look like this, well I have an S4 so hopefully it works for everyone
    Byte 7- 00100001
    Byte 8- 00111100
    Byte 17-10011101
    And the result!

    Good chatting to you too Chris - glad we got iot sorted! Here's the (additional) coding:

    Byte 8, bit 2, change 0 to 1 (Display Engine in MMI)
    Byte 8, bit 3, change 0 to 1 (Display Steering in MMI)
    Byte 8, bit 4, change 0 to 1 (Display Suspension in MMI)
    Byte 8, bit 5, change 0 to 1 (Display Sports Diff in MMI)

    This enables you to modify each of these seetings independently via MMI.

    Enjoy!

    Well just took a quick drive and all I can say is WOW! I have a manual and the shifts are just sooo much smoother but the power just floods in! The steering is tighter too taking away a bit of that "artificial" feel. I would have bought the cable for this mod alone! Thanks for all the help guys, and especially you Zee!:cheers:

    Guys I'm really curious about this, but I don't know how I would access any menus or anything, I am a total, total noob. What equipment do I need to access to the coding and all that? I tried to do a search but no avail :( Maybe I don't even know what to search for, really.

    I'm without nav, and I just tried this and any sensible bits that was unlabelled in the Radio module. Still no Individual setting in my Car Menu.

    Maybe I'm missing something here:

    For cars without navigation, there is no way to enable the hidden menu in the (it's not full MOST MMI, so let's call it MMI-low) MMI-low, as there is no channel 5F or 07 to enable it, and the car/setup button press shortcut does not appear to work. I've tried many combinations and variations.

    Although all the other bits can be enabled through VCDS in Channel 09, you a) won't get the options to customise through the screen and b) don't have an individual button anyhow.

    The only benefit here would be to "hard code" the start-up drive select mode from the 3 available, instead of "auto" by default through VCDS ?

    If anybody has successfully unlocked the hidden menu on the non navigation "MMI-low" cars - kindly advise ...

    I have ADS with MMI low, that means no individual mode for me. However thanks to this great find I'm able to control default ADS setting where 1 it's comfort, 2 auto and 3 dynamic, all 4 channels from 63-66.

    Now, I wonder what will be the meaning of each channel?, 63 seems to be wheeldrive sensibility, 64 throttle response and so on, has anyone found what do they control?

    did you log into security module before attempting to change the addaptation channels?, VCDS will give you the pin code when you hoover the cursor over the empty passcode field

    I tried making these changes and my ADS button died completely. Maybe I did something wrong.

    Your coding should look like this, well I have an S4 so hopefully it works for everyone
    Byte 7- 00100001
    Byte 8- 00111100
    Byte 17-10011101
    And the result!
    Chris,

    what was your eom coding in byte 17? Did you change bit 0 to 1 as well?

    Do you have Servotronic or PR code 1N3 in owners manual?

    Thanks for the help
