I have been on stock sports suspension for like 3 years now w/Neuspeed rear sway bar. I have ST coilovers that have been in my room for like 8 months now, and will be installing those soon. I want wheels first though, so not to have to do an alignment twice. Anyways, nice to see things coming along. What turbo setup you plan on with the AWM? I remember you got into an accident with your AEB and got rid of your kit.

as cheesy as it sounds, i really want a k04-015. i just want to bolt on and go. a quick, torquey, respectable daily driver is all im really going for now.

ive got the painted black 17" ftd's off my old car too i think im going to rock. i knew i should have kept the 18" dtm's. haha. they would have looked awesome with the black car i have now..

This sounds like a real noob inquiry, but why not an eliminator? I seen in the classifieds a GT2871R eliminator that had the compressor housing from a full frame turbo placed onto it for $700. That would be way better than a k04-15. You can go MAFless and clean up a whole bunch of junk from the engine bay while at it.

From what I've seen, elim cars are complete opposites of k04'd cars in terms of drivability. If he wants a torquey DD, the k04 is definitely the way to go.

The k04d cars drive like a chipped k03 but with more power, and the boost doesn't drop off as quick.
The elim setups have a higher boost threshold and spool slower, although they make more power up high.

^ that and i really just dont want to deal with the hassle that comes along with upgrading the turbocharger. a k04 is a perfect fit for me now. i dont really have the place or time to mess with a big turbo set up right now. even an eliminator. a k04 i could slap on and drive without changing anything besides the turbocharger and a few gaskets.

plus having a stock or k04 turbo is perfect for having fun with the me7. changes made to the tune actually change the way the car drives. a larger turbo would take some of the fun out of it.

I am just about done with my car. i put the Eibach Pro-Street S Coilovers with the Hotchkis Extreme Sport Sway Bars. It is going to be my first lowered car and i hope it is going to be worth it.

Do you just need a machine shop or does a shop need to have access to special stuff?

Height adjustment changes, so camber changes. I would first adjust them for 16" wheels and 205/55 tires, then would need to adjust for 18" wheels 225/40 tires.

I ordered some bilstein sports about 6 months ago. I was surprised that they were grooved when I got them. Must have been some old stock :)
    Hooray for boobies!

  19. #19
i dont think bilstein made them grooved though. they had to be machined like that by a 3rd party seller. awe used to have a machine that did it but got rid of it i believe because of lack of interest.

    Stock tire height: 24.9"
    New tire height: 25.1"

I don't think you need to worry about it...
