So the car is stored for winter, i start it every 2-3 weeks without problems except i always have to jump it with my jumpbox. Today i jumped it and started up like always ran for about 2 min then just shut down. No hesitation or anything just like somebody had turned it off, now it wont restart and is making some clicking behind the steering column when the key is turned over and also sounds like the fuel pump is turning on and off as this clinking continues... (relay maybe)ANY IDEAS? my car is now in the street and have to get back into the yard as i cant park in the street yet

    BTW car is a 99.5 1.8tqm

Maybe your battery is completely dead. When you store your car, you should remove the battery. It shutting down though makes me think your ignition switch is bad.

That would explain the noise from the steering column... But would i hear the fuel pump shutting on and off???

Sounds like you don't have enough voltage to keep the fuel pump and/or starter relays closed during cranking. As soon as the starter relay closes, the huge draw of the starter tanks the voltage, opening the relays, and repeating the cycle. Try getting some good jumper cables and a car to jump it. Keep the engine running on the jump car and rev it up a bit to get some more juice. Also, plan on buying a new battery. If it has been dead for that length of time it is doubtful that it will live again. Car batteries don't like to stay discharged, it tends to kill them.

Yep, Get your battery checked at your local auto parts store. See if it is dead.

you need to take the battery out and go get it tested and probably replaced. sometimes batteries just go bad and can't be charged especially if they're old.

is your battery serviceable? did you check the water level if it is?

im 99% sure you just need a new battery....
