Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
ive heard they bolt right up and the 2.8 transmission will allow over 140mph. if im going to spend the money for BT then i want a respectable top end and not the pathetic almost 130mph that the 1.8t trans gives. are there any other options?
RIP 99.5 1.8t quattro, test pipe, full 2.5 exhaust, 17" rs4 reps, forge splitter DV, drilled and slotted rotors, redstuff pads, and finally running GIAC
NOW- 97 b5 a4 1.8t quattro, 17" rs reps, and forge splitter, test pipe and 2.5in straightpipe with no muffler and now with clear corners, clear smoked side marker lights, and facelift tail lights.

They do bolt right up. I never heard of the top end being greater. The 2.8 has taller gears which gets you better fuel economy in 5th.

The 1.8t tranny will take you to 150+mph, if you have the power....

I'll trade my 2.8 trans for a 1.8t. Hell I'll let you have most of the bad one in my car too

Where did you hear that the 1.8t tranny will only go to 130mph? I know it will go farther than that if you have the power.

I did a little searching as this has been discussed nearly every month, almost religiously. Here's a little info you may like.

Here's Bitetsai's DIY in case you missed it. Very good read. http://www.audizine.com/forum/showth...ual-Conversion

The stock ecu is limited at ~127, that's probably why he's confused.

He has a full 2.5" exhaust, test pipe, and forge splitter so it should be safe to assume he's chipped. If I remember there wasn't an actual top speed limit but rather 127 was as fast as you could go with the stock rev limit. Which chips raise.

im actually not chipped as im going straight to BT. but i feel alot better now that i know i wont have such a horrible top end after investing so much money.

No, the stock tires are only rated to ~130 so they electronically limit the top speed. You hit 130mph at around 5700rpm in 5th...
