hello, just new here in audizine, just want to ask some question about the CLP and i also read some thread about the central locking pump here in the forums and now i tried to open the pump and found out that the graphite motor is still good but i noticed like little dust inside, black dust, and it looks like its burned ash and it smells like it too! is that what vagcom is referring to central control pump run time exceed? does it mean i shud replace it with a new CLP? thats all hope you can help me understand it. thank you so much!

Generally it means the pump is running longer than it should because there is a leak in the system so the locks aren't opening or closing properly. ie. longer than it should take. There will be dust inside of the box because that's the nature of the graphite, however, you have to check whether the inside section of the graphite is still intact. There are 3 pieces to the motor vane. Outside, inside, and the area that holds the vanes. The three pieces could be intact but the vanes themselves could be broken in which case the pump won't work.

There are 2 situations for you.

    1. There is a break in the tubing to your locks somewhere on the car. The tubing is corrugated plastic and can break.

    2. The vanes in the pump are broken. This is the most likely culprit. The only fix to this is to buy another pump from online or a junk yard. The only way to know is to take the pump apart and look inside to see if the vanes are in tact. It's easy....just a few screws to take off. If you lock or unlock your doors and the pump whines for more than 5 sec., it's most likely the vanes are broken and no air is being pushed out.

what does it mean if your locks still work when u lock and unlock the car? But your remote no longer can control the CLP?

does that mean you have a leak somewhere?
