Looking for more power for my B8

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
    Euroboost Stage II software installed
    3" downpipe
    K&N drop in filter

    Next step:
    AWE FMIC
    Water/Alcohol injection

Need to get a bigger turbo somehow, any ideas?

Well regarding the bigger turbo, you can either build your own kit and have a company build a tune for you. Or just wait for a company to do the R&D for you and just buy the whole thing as a kit from them.

As for the next step, id pick one or the other. Water/meth and front mount will both just be lowering IAT, your not getting different gains from either one. And if your planning on going bigger turbo so soon id skip the w/m and go straight to a FMIC.

Tune won't be an issue, custom remap will be developed locally.

The main issue is the exhaust manifold, I'm pretty sure the B7 manifold won't fit, not 100% possitive though, need some pics for boths manis. Still looking for the first B8 that will take the BT route, otherwise I'll be the first one.

A new manifold should delete the air filter box because of lack of space on the engine bay which could be filled with a bigger turbo, a good downpipe design could be worked locally.

If thats the case go for it, let me know what injectors you go with.. and by the way what turbo are you planning on going with?

Injectors size would depend on the turbocharger flow rate, I'm thinking about going with a GT3071 0.64 a/r or maybe a smaller GT2871r 0.64 a/r as well, nothing too crazy, 300awhp @ 18psi with a fast spool up and room for improvement would be killer for a B8, this setup should work perfect on 630cc. The MED17 is a real nice ECU to develop a big turbo software.

If an upgraded IHI turbo with the same OEM flanges can be swapped in I may jump on it just to keep the manifold and oil/coolant lines and downpipe, but I still don't have the picture of one out or the ETKA picture for the matter

Are you Manual or Tiptronic? IMO i would do the gt28rs, im even considering it for my B8 being that b7 tiptronic guys ran gt28's with no issues. Also b6 and b5 tip guys ran gtrs's with no issues either so i say go for it, theres just certain thing you want to really take your time with and have done right like the tune.

I don't know exactly how water/meth injection works, but I think I remember reading somewhere that it also helps w/ preventing carbon buildup. True?

some people say it helps, other people says it don't. Its 50/50. But water/meth helps with cooling the engine thus more performance..

Correct, its been said that the meth helps keep intenals clean. But im not sure how true that is, i havnt found someone who has opened their motor after running 50k miles of running with it, i do know there is no worries though. Plenty of Audi owners from previous years have run it on their cars for years without issue.

A buddy of mine just bought a B5 s4 with swapped with twin k04's and the car is tuned for running the water/meth and its has ~125,000k miles on it and runs absolutly perfect. The heads never even come off of the motor, so its never been opened up yet but once it does i'll be able to tell you the long term effects of it. I'll admit though the car runs like its only got 25k miles

I'm sure running FMIC and meth/water doesn't hurt either :)

No it wouldnt, but i wont unless theres a need to for example a big turbo.. or like my buddy who has a turbo mkv r32 and has front mount and w/m with two ports since theres so much heat soak. And theres a oil cooler also in the works, but this thing gets hot. After a run at night if you pop the hood right after you'll see the turbo cherry red, heres just a little video of the car for you guys

Here the car wasnt running perfect yet, they actually had 3 ports for the water/meth but removed one port. Car was running at 14psi in this video.

Heres the car with the old exhaust revving.
