Well, while driving to the train station today, I stopped at the stop sign. Went to put the car in 1st and noticed the clutch peddle feel really hard to push. At the same time, the car won't go into gear. I sit there trying to get the car in gear but no go. I push the car to the side of the road and shut it off then turn it back on and still no go. I was finally able to get it into 3rd gear but that's it. I drove it to the train station but the only gear that would engage is 3rd and the clutch peddle was still really hard to push. Also, during this short drive, I briefly smelled the distinctive oder of the clutch. The car is parked at the station as I weigh my options.
For the past 6 months, I notice a slight clicking sound when shifting. I also seemed to not go in to gear as smoothly; nothing too bad but not as smooth. Lastly, occasionally the car would pop out of gear just upon engaging the clutch and slightly moving the shifter.
The car is a 2003 A4 FWD with approx 125K miles on it. The tranny was rebuilt about 2 years & 75K ago along with the installation of a new clutch. Any assistance to shed some light problem would greatly be appreciated.
Thanks in advance,
Tré
