    Lightbulb Acceleration pedal slow reaction

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
    Hello All,
This is my first post on this forum, welcomes are welcome :)

So, yesterday I had to drive another car (VW Golf MK3 ABF GTI 2.0 16v), and, I've noticed that it has much more fast reaction when I press acc pedal.
With my car, it has an approximately 1 sec delay..
So, is there anything to check out, or, may be install some *tuned* part to make reactions faster?

    My car is A4 B5 2001 1.8tq AWM 5SPD AT
Thanks a lot for any kind of help :)

I believe the difference is Golf is Drive By Cable where yours is Drive By Wire. I believe a chipped ECU will help. But also being a turbo will mean there is a little lag for the power. While not much that could also be what your noticing. That is if the MK3's aren't turbo which I didn't think they were.

    Thanks for reply!
However, that's not a turbo lag, I can distinguish it from a signal being sent a bit later..
Also, I have the turbo pressure gauge installed, so I can see when the pressure starts to grow (from vacuum) - that's where I can see a "signal lag".
Also, is there anything I can check with VAG-COM?

    Thanks in advance!

i think part of that delay is due to your car being an auto, just takes a second for the trans for figure out what your trying to do my car has preety much the same lag as yours

You are right, there is some delay with the AT, but that's not my case. I have delays while being in a gear, even with manual control of my Tiptronic I have the same delay each time I accelerate.
That's what I am looking to get rid of..

its because of the dbc to dbw. MK3 is drive by cable where an actual cable opens the throttle. DBW like what you have has a servo motor and its electronic. You might want to look into a sprint booster if it bothers you that much. Either than or some tuners can flash it so the throttle opens more for less pedal travel. Only things that would help it out.

A place between here and there

DBW has a slght .5-1 sec delay for throttle response. There is an aftermarket part made (Sprint Booster) to counteract this, but there are alot of mixed reviews on it. I think it is in the B5 S4 section where there was a big debate on the validity of the product.

    Found it: http://www.audizine.com/forum/showth...sprint+booster

Ya I pretty much answered it and offered a 2nd possibility... its because of the throttle body being controlled by a motor instead of a cable

k0mpresd, how does your solution compare to InstaWOT? Are you competitive on pricing?

thats your pedal map. the ecu translates your foot position in to some point on that map. so i edited it to where the throttle is open 100%, 100% of the time. :p

RTe - We do carry sprint booster. It is a signal amplifier that does make pedal response a snap quicker. It is a plug and play direct swap, if you don't like it, return it for a full purchase price refund. Sprint Booster is available here. There is a great debate about what it does, essentially it amplifies pedal input to the ECU eliminating that "lag" you speak of. Many people blindly disregard it without being willing to try it. As such, if you don't like it you can return it for a full refund of the purchase price.

Well, Thanks Chris for the opportunity, but I am a regular customer of ECS so I know all of your products for B5. However, for the moment I am not ready to pay 300 for that option.
Anyways, thanks for the response and an offer, I appreciate it.
