Im going to be replacing my leaking rear diff output seals soon, ive ordered the seals already and the 2062 driver is on the way. I have a bentley manual but was wondering if there was anymore information on this repair on the internet.
Ive searched and cant find any diy's or discussions on the topic

    Thanks in advance

I just did my axle seals about 2 months ago. I think that is typically the spot where you get leakage.

You will need an M10 (12-point) bit for the 6 axle bolts and a 5mm hex for the one holding the flange to the diff (this is a pain to get out since there is not much room to work with)

I was liking the DIY on AudiGeeks till he had all those springs falling out of his diff/tranny/whatever at the end.

What is the part number for the seals you used,
these are the ones I ordered. http://www.ecstuning.com/Search/B6_A...f_Seal/ES1617/

The only diy I could find was http://forums.audiworld.com/showthread.php?t=297366
even though its for b5 and theres little info, would most of the stuff apply for b6 as well

    Yep, those are the ones.

I couldn't find a DIY either, I actually didn't see that one, but those axle bolts are a different size. You need the M10 bit like I said.
I just removed the heat shields covering the boots, took out the 6 axle bolts on each side, and then pushed the axle up and out of the way to generate enough room to remove the single 5mm hex bolt holding the flange to the diff - this is the most difficult part. Then pry out the old one, put some grease on the new one, use the tool and put it in. Took me about 3 hours because I had to run back out to get a different swivel socket adapter to get to the 5mm hex.
