What the stasis brackets in the kit do is take the stock caliper and carrier, move it out further from the hub so it is properly aligned to accommodate the wickid nice alcon rotor/hat assembly. If the bracket wasnt included, you couldnt run a larger diameter rotor.
So after first attempting to install the b7 Stasis/Alcon rear kit on my b6 (doh!!!), then being miraculously aided by koolade (thanks bro, millions) with his b6 stasis rear kit (installed last night), i can tell you that i really doubt that a b7 caliper/carrier can be used to make a b7 kit work on a b6 without some work. maybe just the carrier is different at best, but i doubt it. here's why.
When I went to mount what I originally thought was the b6 kit (but was the b7), the Stasis adapter braket, which bolts to the carrier, was around 1.5 inches short of the bolt holes in the hub where the carrier mounts to. That is alot more than the mere 2mm difference in the rotor diamter that the two kits have (each has a slightly different rotor width as well):
-B7 Alcon Rear = 310 mm diameter
-B6 Alcon Rear = 308 mm diameter
The adapter brackets are very different, indicating the mounting location must be different unless the carrier/caliper are significantly different. The contact surface on the b7 alcon rotor is also wider than the b6 alcon rotor, so the pads are probably slightly larger as well and if that is right, probably a slightly different caliper.
But in the end, the kit installs so easily, and is quite a nice upgrade over stock. For the money I think it is well worth it. I havent even stood on the brakes on the open road yet. I guess I just love the way it looks to be honest.
