they have 2 options. 1) 305mm rear rotor, caliper bracket, ss lines and fluid & 2) 310mm kit with different alcon caliper, lines & fluid. The latter is hard to get..

i thought someone on here was selling a set for 450. Not sure if he sold it already or not. You'd need to pick up b7 a4 rear calipers i believe for that kit.

What's different between the B6 and B7 A4 rear calipers?

im onsure of the actual calipers, but the carriers are different. The b7's use a larger rear rotor 288mm compared to our 245's.

But they sell carriers with their rear kit anyway, because they have to make the 305mm rear rotors fit. Why do the B7s get a 310mm rear rotor? Weird.

i dont think they sell carriers. its just an adapter. they just move the calipers out a bit.

What the stasis brackets in the kit do is take the stock caliper and carrier, move it out further from the hub so it is properly aligned to accommodate the wickid nice alcon rotor/hat assembly. If the bracket wasnt included, you couldnt run a larger diameter rotor.

So after first attempting to install the b7 Stasis/Alcon rear kit on my b6 (doh!!!), then being miraculously aided by koolade (thanks bro, millions) with his b6 stasis rear kit (installed last night), i can tell you that i really doubt that a b7 caliper/carrier can be used to make a b7 kit work on a b6 without some work. maybe just the carrier is different at best, but i doubt it. here's why.

When I went to mount what I originally thought was the b6 kit (but was the b7), the Stasis adapter braket, which bolts to the carrier, was around 1.5 inches short of the bolt holes in the hub where the carrier mounts to. That is alot more than the mere 2mm difference in the rotor diamter that the two kits have (each has a slightly different rotor width as well):

    -B7 Alcon Rear = 310 mm diameter
    -B6 Alcon Rear = 308 mm diameter

The adapter brackets are very different, indicating the mounting location must be different unless the carrier/caliper are significantly different. The contact surface on the b7 alcon rotor is also wider than the b6 alcon rotor, so the pads are probably slightly larger as well and if that is right, probably a slightly different caliper.

But in the end, the kit installs so easily, and is quite a nice upgrade over stock. For the money I think it is well worth it. I havent even stood on the brakes on the open road yet. I guess I just love the way it looks to be honest.

To clarify, I have a set of B7 rears on my B6 (the 3.0 that's being parted) and it is the carriers and calipers that are different, not the car. Assuming you have a set of B7 rear calipers, you should easily be able to use the Stasis/Alcon B7 rear setup. I bought the one that Turbavanttro had for sale and will let you all know if it bolts up. I'm 99.9% sure it will, using B7 calipers and carriers. I'm working on getting the matching fronts, so I can have a decent sized setup of vented and floating rotors, which also look nice.

No, it's not. With the Alcon setup you have two piece floating rotors with gas venting and stainless steel lines. It's a better deal.

Thanks Eric. I'm trying to sell it so I'm not tempted to put it on my car :-)

Ding ding ding. You're not only upgrading the size with the rear Alcon setup...the floating rotors are a superior design compared to the S4 rotors (which, iirc, aren't vented). Plus, it feels much, much lighter (per rotor)...I need to find a scale to weigh the difference.

B6 S4 rear rotors are vented. The caliper pistons are also larger in diameter.

The only benefit on the Alcon system is the floating calipers, different rotor material and SS lines (if you chose not to do SS lines with your S4 rear brake system).

Both systems are very nice and have pros and cons associated.

To clarify, I was referring to the slotting on the Alcons, which you can get with buying other slotted rotors for your S4 setup. But I believe you can run this setup with S4 calipers, giving you the best of both worlds. Like I said though, I'm mainly looking for a lighter rotor, two-piece assembly, and a little bling to match the front setup I will be getting. Going with the same for the front, Alcon rotors, caliper adapters, Goodridge SS lines, and some good pads. Can't argue that I liked my B7 S4 front/B7 A4 rear brake setup with Carbotech Bobcats and stock rotors. But I want a little bling and these will do it, while giving me a few benefits.
