i've read numerous times that performance actually decreased when they put a cai in but i wouldn't know

you should probably make sure all the big maintenance things are done

No on the CAI, our stock air boxes are basically the best until you get into BT applications. The 1.8t uses a Diverter Valve, not a BOV, but upgrading the DV is a worthwhile mod if you plan on going for more power over stock. You can upgrade your panel filter, but most people will recommend one with a dry element, as K&N and the like have a tendency to get oil in your MAF and mess things up a little...

Also, these subjects have been covered IN DEPTH numerous times, the Search tab at the top of your browser is your best friend on this forum. Quite the wealth of knowledge we have here.

yay..... another thread from someone who thinks their car is a Honda and hasn't thought to maybe do a little research rather then just asking stupid questions (yes, it is a stupid question to ask when it has been answered at least once a week for the past 5 years).

sorry OP, not normally such a dick, but this get very old, just search and you'll find the answer rather then clutter then forums with another thread on the same subject only to make it harder for the people that do search to find real relevant information.

    /end of rant.
