I am assuming he has the stock MMI because he has a B8. I dont know what idiot would replace a brand new MMI for an aftermarket unit.

OP, I doubt this is something that has been done before. Even though I am a B5 owner, I have done lots and lots of research on something like this for my stock Nav unit and have been all over Kufatec's website and other related sites. I dont think Kufatec has made (or imported) a B8 TV-in-Drive unit to plug and play to get it to work. And I know Audi themselves dont have anything of this nature either because it is illegal in the states to watch movies in Drive.

I'd give Kufatec a call however. Even if they dont have what you're looking for (or do), they might have a clearer answer for you.

I can watch TV and movies (via DVD on my playstaion) on my B5 with the factory Nav unit and Audi TV tuner and I can watch DVD's and drive on my B8. VIM is not that big a mystery. Not directly related to this post but related to your response.

I haven't tried putting a movie via DVD rip on an SD card but I should work. It looks for specific formats and DVD is one that is supported.

HEY!! Whats your issue with Jerry? hmm.. Just kidding.

Well for the new B8 there is digital and analog, for the B5 there was only analog at it's the same signal as US. The new B8 though you would need the DAB/Analog dual tuner or just the DAB tuner. I may be using the wrong term but there is a few variations. Here in Canada we are not 100 digital broadcast so the analog would be fine but if your going to do it get the combo. The only difference that I can see in the tuners is there is a Japan Spec one. SO avoid that one and the rest should be fine. Somone on the forum has already done the swap and I have all the harnesses and antenna modules on the way here as we speak. I'll just need to find a tuner that I'm not getting rapped on next. That DIY wont be to far off.

is there any model year/trim restriction on the VIM option? I have a 2009 P+ w/ navigation, and am very interested to know if this will work. Can I just pick up a gadgettown cable and VAGCOM my way to video, without xcarlinkx or any other hardware modification?

Do you have TV/DVD playback when stationary? If so then VIM will work.

If you don't then there's nothing to work when the "Vehicle's In Motion"
