Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
as per the title.. im getting really low mileage it seems compared to other audi owners.. i have a 2007 Audi A4 with 39k miles.. Updated DV, PCV and coilpacks.

stock with no chip no mods.

What could be wrong with it?

Where is the fuel level at 300 miles? I get about 300 miles at a quarter tank, which is where I fill up. Comes out to around ~24 MPG which is about right for mixed driving. My car hits 100 miles at 3/4, 200 miles at 1/2, and 300 miles at 1/4 during normal commuting use.

If yours is the same, it doesn't sound like anything's wrong.

That's pretty bad, I get about 450-500 miles per tank and have a decent amount of performance mods, I used to get a solid 500+ miles stock. Granted I have a lot of freeway driving...which I think is my next question - what kind of driving? A lot of stop and go? Heavy traffic? Do you accelerate quickly? Do you coast into the red lights or are you one of those people who are racing everyone to the next red light a few blocks ahead (happens all the time around here, haha)

I've noticed that my mpg is about 2-3 lower if I'm using cruise...

There are times when I hardly get 250 miles a tank, so consider yourself lucky. Most of the time I'm driving up the mountains.

Cruise is most efficient at 65mph.. leave a few minutes earlier and set it lower, see how that does! I get 400+ per tank, but it's mostly highway and smooth shifting/starts/stops.

I usually get just over 300miles as well. I can get about 24-25mpgs if a majority of my trip is on the highway and im just cruising. But 97% of the time i get 21-22mpgs. I like to drive aggressive and feel boost. Its a price worth paying!

I'm jealous of you guys that drive and have about 400+ miles, i have not even got that once! It seems as if my mileage suffers because of the traffic. I recently lost my flash due to disconnected battery and it just feels like my mileage dropped rofl.

You all need to specify FWD/Quattro. Different tank sizes, different drivetrain losses, and 6MT versus Tip makes a difference as well.

Another point to consider, what kind of tires are you rolling on? Once I switched from my all seasons (whatever was stock) to some Hankook iPike winter tires my gas mileage went down to about 300mpt...about 100 less than what I was getting before

On a trip, I already did 520 miles per tank (only highway driving). My crusing speed was 70-75.

Most of the time a do 300-350 miles per tank. (mixed city / highway and heavy foot)

On a road trip that's mostly highway..400 to 500 miles per tank is easy! However, I do a lot of driving in the sprawling metropolis that is Grand Junction and I average around 300 a tank. I also don't like a grandmother either. The fact that I only need to fuel up about twice a month means I don't really care about my fuel economy.

Usually fill up at about 500 but have gotten over 575 and had 1.5 gallons left. Have front track which has an 2 gallon larger tank than Quattro and it's 200 pounds lighter. Also do about 75% highway.

I'm in the same boat, I probably fill up every 3 weeks, sometimes 4. I get pretty dismal gas mileage but I don't really care.

Yup im same set up minus the exhaust and am pretty much the same way.

Sadly on roadtrips, ive never taken anything longer then cincy to columbus, or indy, or something like that. And when I do those trips, I alwasy time trial myself so im usually gunning it away from packs of cars and doing nothing to help my mileage.....

Have you tried putting it in reverse on the highway? This helped me many times to reach 400+ on a tank.

I'd say I get an average of 300 miles for 3/4 of the tank; I never let it go below a quarter.

I usually fill up as soon as the light comes on which is typically around 330 miles with normal commuting. Using the Iphone gas cubby app, the best tank I have ever had was 28.85 and the worst was 19.67. My average since I have owned the car has been 23.12. All my highway driving is between 80 and 90, so i am sure that doesn't help at all.

I'm driving a 2007 manual quattro and have noticed the gas mileage drop horribly over the last year since I've purchased. Driving habits and conditions haven't changed. Best tank I got was around 375 (later took the car in because it was throwing a CEL and found out my car was loaded with an A3 program). After they updated the car ran much smoother, but have watched my gas mileage drop to around 300. Driving slow, driving fast, tested both on different tanks and didn't make a difference. Check tire pressure weekly. Deciding whether to chip with APR or just get rid of the car after reading about the carbon buildup and wondering if this is affecting the mileage.

Ran Lucas fuel injector cleaner and felt a considerable amount of horsepower come back, but no improvements on the mileage :(.

I also get right above 300 miles to the tank, and that is mostly aggresive city driving.

I usually get 320-340 per tank during my commute to and from work, which is city style driving. (around 22mpg)

I've gotten 33 mpg on a couple different trips from Ohio to Alabama.
