Hmm. Some days my mirrors look bronze and some days they don't. I thought it had to do with the sun. I'd say if the autodim still works, and the mirror isn't foggy everything is fine. That autodim glass is quite expensive so you don't want to replace it unless you have to.
The failure mode of my autodim glass was the thick plastic/rubber seal on the outside was cracked in a few places, allowing some of the fluid to ooze out. Then after casually washing my car, water got into the mirror, and filled the void where the fluid once was, causing a super foggy, murky mirror display. I'm not sure if it still dimmed or not. Didn't matter, it was useless day or night. Long story short, it all started with the cracks on the black outer edge molding of the glass. I think that would be the "health indicator" if there was any.
