Power seat install - airbag adapter tool? Why?

    Never seen anyone mention this:

Does anyone know why an 'airbag adapter" is used when removing/installing power seats? I want to be sure i dont blow up my airbags when I install my recaros.

    From eBahn:

    Connect airbag connector (yellow) - 1 - to airbag adapter connector - 2 - .
    If present:
Connect connector for voltage supply (red) of airbag adapter - 3 - to counterpart (red) - 4 - on seat connector.

Basically eBahn indicates that the airbag adapter has to get connected to the airbag connector on the seat harness and the other end of it connects to the power connector on the seat harness. I have never read anyone actually dong this. Does this just ensure no power fluctuations to the airbag so they dont potentially set off whe the power is reconnected?

I believe so: preventing the airbag(s) from blowing off while the seat is disconnected, whether it be the airbag in the seat or the other airbags in the car.

If you're that worried about it, just disconnect the battery. I've never done either of these myself... but that's no reference point...

Thanks Steph. I am somewhat concerned about it....given that eBahn says disconnecting the battery is done anyway, even before using the airbag connector adapter, I am somewhat concerned that an airbag might pop when I reconnect the battery....

But never heard anyone post that they had an airbag issue after doing the mod.....? I guess I will learn...will post my results.

On another note, finally saw a few pics of your car with the 20-inch mono 10s, so sweet indeed! Nice work! Hope you've resolved the cracking issue though. I can feel that pain. I have a small crack in my sideskirt from a slight tweaking when the car was on a lift......arrrrgh

I did it without the tool and no issue. Just unplug the battery
