    HELP with MY SUSPENSION PLEASE!!

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
Hey so I just brought my car to the shop today because it was vibrating like crazy. When they got a chance to look at my car the mechanic told me that my inner tierod was a thread or two from coming completely out. He Then told me that because my car was lowered I'm going to be needing control arms, and new tires soon. My tires only have like 5k on them! DUnlop Wintersports. He then told me that I should raise it back up to level out the camber. I am currently running mtm stprings and adjustable Koni. I was wondering what You guys think I should do? He basically said that Audi suspension isn't meant to be lowered. But dam it looks sooo nice. Should I just raise the koni seats up a couple of notches and hope for the best? I just dont want to replace tires every 5k miles that's crazy. I'm a college student so money is a little bit of an issue, especially with this 500$ tierod assembly fix on both sides.

    Thanks Ahead of time!

500 dollars for tie rods?? Yikes. Time to start fixing things yourself. Are your tires wearing oddly? Get a good alignment after you've insured all your suspension components that need replacing have been. It's very easy to inspect them.

Sure it wasnt just snow stuck on the insides of the wheels, right? I can see mechanics making a killing on people who come in with shaking due to snow. :(

I am on H&R sports and had an Audi dealership do the alignment. the mechanic told me that i was within spec but all of the adjustments were maxed out. I am sure you are not lower than i am. get the tie rods done and get a GOOD alignment preferably at the dealership. mine was only $99

Get a good alignment and get your tires balanced. Go from there.

you should do the tie rods yourself. with a jack and a few simple tools they are very easy, it would probaly cost you 80$ for the parts. then get an alignment you will be set. just keep an eye on the snow in the rims, the other day we got a ton of snow i was drifting around a parking lot and when i left it felt like the car was jumping up and down off from the road at least 2inches, there was so much snow it cause crazy vibration.

Hey guys, Yea I know thats what I thought when he told me I couldn't be lowered. It wasn't just the tie rod ends though it was the inner, the whole assemblys thats why they were so much. I wouldn't agree more with doing them myself, I just don't have the time or the tools being at college right now. So my best bet would be to get a good alignment? Would the inner tierods have cause the tires to wear so fast?

THe shop is actually extremely good and well known. I've had them do work before and it was completely reasonable, so I wouln't call them a rip off shop at all.

    802.468.0090

He did all my suspension work. He does my tuning. He will most likely do my STG 3 install.
