    VAG- will not read my car, ideas?

    I have a 99 a4 1.8t. A fellow ziner tried to scan my car and it wouldn't read anything. The only part that it could get a signal from was my dash. Has anyone had a similar problem or have any ideas on how to troubleshoot this issue? thanks.

    do you have an aftermarket radio in your car? that can cause issues from what i have heard. i have an aftermarket in my car with no issues, bt i have read there are communication errors. i am looking for the wor around in case:)

    Is your ABS light on when the car is turned on?

    nope, stock head unit. Level line converter and amp in trunk but the amp shouldn't change anything. I forgot to post that though! I have also heard about that before.

    unplug the abs module, there is a connector on the top and bottom. A faulty abs module will keep you from connecting to everything on your ecu, and even keep you from being able to do a TBA.

    Sweet dillon thanks. I know there is the big female plug on top. Do i get to the other through the wheel well? Or can i just reach underneath?

    Sorry, not sure. I have all my windshield washer stuff ripped out so its easy. You may need to go through the wheel well.

    ooo i'd like to do that also. My wiper resovoir has a crack in it and i'm sick of it beeping at me.
