    Guys.
What is an Ultrasport A4 or USP? Is it just the Sports suspension or something more?

    Thanks,

    Ultrasport = Awesome!

Ultrasport is the name for the "S-Line" version of the A4 made in 2004 and 2005. It was has a few differences between the regular version. Including, B5 RS4 wheels in 18", larger door flares (smaller than the S4), euro bumpers (shorter than NA bumpers) and a different lower lip on the front bumper and lower valence on the rear bumper.

When it comes to interior, some of the later USP's came with brushed aluminum trim, and they all came with perforated steering wheels and shift knobs.

Edit: on the avant.....there is a larger rear spoiler on the hatch, and on the sedan it came with a lip spoiler on the trunk

Almost all 04 and on A4 have 6 speed transmissions.

USP also always have black interiors and painted lowers.

i agree with the above statement :)

    but as Lusticles states...

it comes with a different front and rear bumper which is shorter and more appealing than the base/sport a4 and s4
sport 3 spoke preforated steering wheel
has its own lip spoiler which is more appealing than the S4 lip spoiler
its own door blades which are more subtle than the S4 door blades
    18" RS6 style wheels
the suspension from what i understand is the same as the sport model

C'mon guys really! Granted there arent't enough words in civilized English to describe the overtly pleasing asthetic appeal of the USP, but why hasn't someone already mentioned the word SEARCH SEARCH SEARCH!?!?!?! This is the biggest fail thread ever and the easiest question to find an answer to by using the search feature. Had someone asked for help with coolant issues or asked about DDM Tuning HID's ya'll would crucified them for trying to get some technical know how and turn thier own wrenches, what the hell?

This is the second "What does USP mean" thread today, and I don't even mind because I love telling people how much more awesome it is than a stock or sport A4

And God's gift to the B6 may even be an understatement....I like the look of the USP more than most of the aftermarket stuff you can buy

Is the front bumper really shorted then a non USP bumper?
I always thought the only difference was the lower valence.

Just going to poke in here, my 3.0L is getting a set of 18's eventually to replace the factory 17's and I think it will need a bit of a drop (not much, Canadian winters and all). Is there any easy way to tell if it has the sport suspension? It looks like it's sitting about a half inch or so too high to look right, and I understand the USP cars are about 3/4 inch lower than what mine would be (I think) which is about right for decent looks without giving up too much clearance or travel (pot hole city!). Is it easy to throw USP suspension in a non-USP car? Just a matter of springs?

There is no special USP suspension. Its the same as the factory sport suspension. And that is my only beef with the USP car. Audi made the thing look really nice with all the added cosmetic touches, but really didn't do one thing to improve the performance over the regular A4 with a sport package. They should at least put in the higher output engine to go with the looks! (like the 225 horsepower one the TT Quattro's had)

Of course, you can do your own tuning on the car now and make it be what it should have been from the factory. There are two of them near me I see driving around. Yes, they are in my opinion the best styling of any of the A4's still to date, including the B8 cars.

I wouldn't even own an A4 if it wasn't for the USP. I test drove a black/black A4 TQ 6M sport and wasn't thrilled. Then I saw a black/black USP and the deal was done. Even though the cars are mechanically identical, the USP package just made it look and feel like a much nicer car.

LMAO !! No I totally saw the funny face and new it was a joke which I had obviously made an unsuccessful attempt at one-upping.... The point I was trying to make was that we shouldn't be attacking people for thier threads in general.... I've gone from being afraid to change the oil myself 2 years ago to doing my waterpump and timing belt myself two months ago because of threads on this site. I was just trying to get the message out that it someone asks for help the members of the community should either give it or just say nothing, we shouldn't be attacking people just for trying to further thier knowledge..

My first reply was not intended to be an attack on the OP, to be more accurate my thoughts were directed at those out there who reply to a question by telling someone to look it up.

    Guys,

This thread has been very useful and helpful for me in finding my next A4.

I found an 2005 A4 USP with 42k miles on it... it has premium audio and Xenon premium lighting package...
the guy is the 2nd owner and is asking $14.5k for it... let me know what you guys think....

    it has the following issues...
    1. broken cup holder
    2. door ding of a quart size on right passenger door...
    3. dings on the back bumper....

Go for it!! That is a really good price for a USP with that type of mileage. Cup holder can be fix very easily and cheap when you do you symphony II+ or rns-e upgrade eventually.
Bumper and door can always be bondo up and repainted.

    Thanks a4darkness....:-)

I sold my 2003 Audi CVT 3.0L couple of days ago .. I owned the CVT only for 4 months .. lost $2k in the transaction.... but the experience was invaluable.....

This USP is going to be my first car with stick.. I am very excited... I am gonna try to get some sleep before heading out to see it....
