Alarm Question.. Please Help!. Waking Up Neighbors at Night.

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
    Hey all. Need advice/help.

So, my alarm starts to go off out of nowhere. I go unlock it and then lock it and it usually makes a BEEP when you lock it but nothing.

I open and close ALL doors, trunk and HOOD as well. I made sure everything is closed including sunroof. (everything is closed)

I lock the door and still no BEEP.. about 20 minutes after locking it without the beep, the alarm goes off again.. This happened about 5 times today..

I Dont have a VAGCOM so I cannot scan it. I currently have the battery unplugged so it doesnt wake up my neighborhood at night.

Any suggestions and solutions?? I was thinking maybe its a sensor but Dont know where they are located. Please guide me to a write up if you think its a sensor problem.

    Thanks everyone.

I don't know how the factory alarm on these cars would wake anybody up. Barking dogs make more noise. It might be a bad switch, but you would need a VAG-COM to know for sure.

If you turn the ignition on with all the doors closed does it show any zones open?

Try disabling the pressure sensor next time you arm it.

I had this problem, and the wires for the hood latch sensor were severed. It would go off at random times too. I just unplugged it. No need for it anyway...

When it happened this morning, I went into my car and warmed up my car. Once, I turned on the car, I noticed a ABS light, ESP (Traction control light) and trunk signal were all flashing.. I turneed off the car for a few seconds and turned it back on and ALL of them went away.. I havent driven the car for the past week if that associates with the alarm.

Dont forget, my alarm doesnt make a beep when i press lock...

I currently have the battery off the car right now. The block that I live on is very quiet so the alarm is quite loud at night..

What was your voltage gauge reading? Low or high voltage can fuck with electronics.

I'd check the hood sensor, like scottm said.

can anyone direct me to where the hood and trunk sensors are on the car?

I am hoping that the sensors need to be replaced.. Are these sensors cheap to replace?

You should be able to eyeball the hood sensor, it's probably near the latch.

The hood latch sensor is underneath a flap of rubber that is directly behind the latch mechanism on the rad support. So your doors, trunk, hood, and gas flap are all closed tight?

Hood lock micro switch is your most likely culprit. Unfortunately there's nothing really to check on the part itself, you'll either need to scan it or just replace it and see if the problem goes away.

When I had that problem it was the sensor on the hood. Next time it happens to prevent having to unhook the battery just open the passanger door and hit the door lock on the driver side. At least that way your not having to unhook the battery every night.

I had the same exact problem until 5 minutes ago. The display kept showing an open hood sign, so I figured it was the hood sensor. I took the sensor off and just taped it shut so the sensor sends a closed signal to the computer. I put the sensor back in its place and now everything is good. My car even beeps when I lock it now :).

i have a B6 a4. On the display, whenever any door/trunk/hood is open, it shows a mini car with the door being open, or the trunk/hood just flash. the hood was flashing while it was locked, hence I checked the sensor and it worked
