Dealership replaced all coil packs 2 weeks ago and today...

My car has 130K miles...fyi. 2 weeks ago I blew a coil pack and remembered seeing something come through the mail about Audi replacing or paying me back for coil pack issues. I ended up limping it to the dealership and they replaced all 4 coil packs for free! Pretty sweet. Well, today I was driving home and noticed my check engine light come on. I just scanned the car and it's reading a miss fire in the 2nd cylinder. I change out my plugs every oil change (5K), so these plugs are only 2,500 miles old. What could be going on here? Should I replace the plugs and see if that solves my issue? The last 2 times a CP blew the car immediatly drove like ass. Today it was driving fine perfectly fine when the check engine light was on. I'm no mechanic but it doesn't seem like a CP.

    Any suggestions?

scan it again? did it come on again after clearing it yesterday?
The CEL would be flashing if it's a CP??

try cleaning the area where copper grounding hoop from the coil packs grounds to the head. Inspect the wiring harness on the coil packs for cracks, or signs of something going bad in the disconnect jack on number 2..

Well, same thing happened to me, but mine was a valve cover gasket because my coilpacks got covered in oil causing misfires and shit, I cleaned them out and then I had a vacuum/crankcase breather tube leak lol and then my coolant came all out and them I needed to replace my timing belt and stuff, sucks man happened to me at 103k, good luck....

Clear it and see what happens. Misfires are not something that you don't feel it's quite apparent when they happen as you said. I believe the CEL comes on if the ECU detects 10 or more consecutive misfires in a row and should clear itself eventually. Funny that you take it in, the dealer does work for free and two days later by all accounts you might have to go back to pay them for something........

yeah id say to check the plugs anyway. there is a slight chance that driving on a blown cp could foul the plug. if they are clean enough then yeah just try to clear the code and see if it comes back. shouldn't be a problem really. i just had the dealership replace my coil packs for free too and i haven't had any trouble since so i think ur in the clear unless there is an underlying problem.

May want to consider dielectric grease on the CP and tops of plugs for a better/moisture free connection. Also, there is NO reason to change plugs that often.

Oh, and P.S. Glad to hear you got your CPs changed out for free! Thank God, that's dope to know dealerships are being that responsive with the issue now! =]
    i thank GOD a lot

If you change them that often you can use copper plugs which are a lot cheaper, so i dont think its a bad idea.

Try moving that cp to a diff cylinder for a week and see if the misfire follows. If it doesnt it was either an isolated issue, or maybe the injector is acting up??

I do use copper plugs. I cleared the codes, switched packs around, started the car, rough idle (for about 30 sec), check engine light came back on, scanned it, still missfire on the 2nd cyl. I went out and purchased 4 new NGK BKR7e's. All the plugs came out fine except the one in cyl #2. I eventually got it out, but it was really odd how many turns it took to break free. There is a little oil around 3 of the 4 sprak plug areas...not sure if that is normal. I cleaned everything the best I could, replaced plugs, dropped in coils, and the car idles a little better at start but not much. As long as I give it some gas at start there isnt a check engine light.

This morning I cold started it and it sounded like an old man for about 15 sec., the cel flashed as it had a rough idle, then eventually went away and the car started warming up.

WTF is going on here? I have NEVER had this issue before. Could these coil packs be SH%& or what?

I had a similar issue and it ended up being some broken hoses in the vacuum system. I could start the car and as long as I didnt let it idle it ran fine but at idle I would get a flshing CEL, when driving the CEL went to solid...

Less than 4 months ago I had a full leak test done and replaced a bunch of hoses, etc. Unless the dealership messed with something I don't think anything is leaking. I am curious now....

I am thinking that I might have an injection issue. Maybe I should go ahead and replace them.
