Saw a BMW on steelies last night, makes me want to jeep out my B6

They seem a lot bigger than steelies I've seen on VWs...I already know I'm going to get flamed by you narrow-minded lot, but I like ripping down dirt roads and through the snow in my car. Europlate to read "Monster Truck"...haha. These rims on stock or a beefy sport suspension with big gnarly tires, upgrade the clutch to deal with the extra stress of big stupid tires... I'm half-way tempted to put the money into it just to make you guys sick

Lots of people here run steelies for winter. It just happens that most steelies made in our bolt patter that are large (to accomodate bigger brakes) are semi expensive. So why run a steelie when you can have an alloy wheel when the price diff isn't that big of a difference? Try to find a set of 17" steelies, i think you'd be pleasantly surprised that it is not light on your wallet after you get decent snow tires in the size to fit it.

Hell I rocked steelies back then when my brakes were stock.

like how ugly and expensive they are? you could get an STI for the same amount of money. personally i hate the FJs... buy some steelies and color match them to your car. that would be dope... kinda like that S3. i would find the link, but i am too lazy right now.

My cars tan so I really didn't want to color match them. That'd look goofy. I figured they'd look good in black. Are there any suspension kits that give the car a more agressive stance than stock? Little bit high and beefy? lol

it would be hilarious to see a b6 raised up and rock crawling though lol. but i think that's a misappropriation of our cars' abilities.

Lol nah, no rock crawling, although if I ever have the money I would LOVE to build a rock crawler. Those things are awesome and you can do anything you want with them. That'll be no time soon though.

I've been putting thought into a new clutch lately, maybe you guys can give me some pointers without me having to make a new thread. I drive alot of cars at work (especially, it seems, Porches and Nissan 3-50's and -70's) that have clutches that I do not like the feeling of at all. I've had trouble describing it to other people, but instead of the nice gradual sort of push I have with my clutch, wherein I'm able to feel right where I hit the gear, these things are like violent ON and OFF positions, very stiff, with no in-between. I'd hate to put an upgraded clutch in my car and have it end up like that. Anyone point me in the direction of a strong clutch that isn't going to feel like that, if that's even a possibility?

I'll be picking up a set of stealies when people start selling them during the spring. I'll be going with the 15's and puttin down as much rubber as I can with all the pot holes out there. I don't see why people don't run them more. It's a stronger/cheaper/safer wheel.

    Blizzak's on Stealies:
    15" - $79/tire
    16" - $139/tire
    17" - $189/tire

BTW werent those wheels a standard wheel on early BMW's. I am pretty sure I have seen those wheels before on a fully stock early 90's to mid 90's BMW.
