Yup my town is full of them too. All my wheels are bent somehow. And I discovered a bubble this week.
The winter is a love/hate sorta deal.

Try living in Buffalo. Its a 365day a year battle against pot holes. By the time the road crews are done filling the ones from the previous winter... the snow is falling and theyre out there saltn the shit out of the roads again. It makes 4 sum interesting driving come springtime.

Come up north a little bit more to the wilkes-barre/scranton area, its real nasty here... i blew a chunk out of icon w-61 wheel on my subaru, bent 2 stock wheels on my subaru, busted 2 tires on potholes, and my favorite i split an axis wheel in half...

LMAO, maybe... but i did beat the balls off my subaru(rally style i guess you can say), so that could have led to some rim problems, but the axis i split, ill go take a pic of the road and it looks like nothings there until your right on top of it...

Same problems with bad roads here in northern BC. Blew one of my Nokian Hakka's in december in a pothole. so annoying

Thats what 15's are for and snow tires = nothing bent . And if you do bend those, then your driving to fast or not paying attention

NYC doesn't operate like that. NYC and New York state are pretty much treated as two separate states. Different police force, different laws regarding pretty much everything, separate DOT, Sanitation, Taxes and even education. Here you have to file a claim with NYC DOT (different from NYS DOT) and good luck getting any return out of them.

the best thing to do is contact your city to pay for it, if it happens enough time they will make more of an effort to fix the roads.

Amen, roads are horrible here in NE Ohio due to horrible winters. You might consider keeping a digital camera with you to take pics of the pot hole as well as the damage done to the car when it happens. Might help getting something out of your state/city/etc DOT.

This is why I run my Swings and some snow tires hehe. I personally have never bent a rim or blown a tire though. I've hit some bad pot holes though. I've had some really close calls before but fortunately the car handles pretty well hehe

ahhh to vent among brothers!!!. just about a month ago bent a front on my TT and due to the stretch... it when flat. $120 later the rim was fixed and i was back on the road. then just this past weekend dodging a hole in my daily 99 Avant, just barely clipped the rear pass side and put the smallest of holes in the sidewall... pssssssst then flat. unfort i run 225 45 17 conti extreme contact on my winter wheels for that car and the tire is discontinued! i may have found old stock but it's $140 which is about $40 more than the new DWS tire that replaced it. boo.

If everyone knows that the pot holes will be there after every winter, why not try and drive more cautious, maybe even a little slower? you can't expect the city to pay for every single person who bends a rim or blows a tire because there is a pot hole. Your just looking for someone to blame, when everyone deals with the same exact problem. i've got 255/35r18 on 9.5" wide wheels and I drive over SOOO MANNYYY pot holes daily for at least a year now and have yet to bend a rim....just sayin
