"Rear fogs stay on with High Beams." Why would you not want that? Being able to turn it off is as useful as the "left fog light on" option !

    Good work again !

What I don't get is it the descriptions are already in VCDS then this has already been worked out by someone else and hence I can't understand why the Ross-Tech wiki doesn't show it.....but then it actually doesn't seem to show anything in 09 Cent. Elect

The 09 is strange, sometimes it shows some for me and sometimes not, but nothing for high beams and fogs.

Maybe my descriptions suck or I'm not understanding what your saying. You can turn the fog lights off and on, it's just that using the high beams wont turn them off. Which is what they do now. I can kind of understand the fronts turning off depending on local laws but why the rears go off I have no idea.

Yeah that front left fog light one is a good one. I just don't get that one. I had a code and lost it, it turned the front turn signals into parking lights. I may try and find it again.

I don't know about specialist.. More like comacozie. You know a bit of an educated guess as to what bytes to work in and it takes a lot of time out. It just takes so much time committing bit by bit then checking the car for changes. Would go much faster if I had a partner to work with.

And Ross Tech will never show any code online - ever again. You can't see the coding in the label files either.

You can read Ross Tech's answer here: http://forums.fourtitude.com/zerothread?id=4424113

I just need to understand how it works in US

OEM you can have Fog lights staying on with Headlights, but not Fog lights staying on with High-beams - is that correct understood??

Why would anyone have "Headlights on all the time" - as DRLs??

I have a car with halogen headlights, I´ve tried to change my halogen DRL to the high beams, but the problem is that the original DRL stay on with the high beams as DRL, any idea of how to set high beams alone as DRL? This is the coding I used:

    module 09:

    Halogen lights:
    Channel 1: Brightness of DRL
Channel 2: Brightness of Mains with Highbeam on
Channel 4: DRL as Positionlight Brightness

In common for all above is a value from 0-100 where "100" is full intensity and "0" is off.

Remember to choose "Secure Access" and enter the code "20113" before pressing "Adaptation"

It should be possible to set which lights to use as DRL under:
    Code:
    [09 – Cent. Elect.]
    [Coding - 07] -> Long Coding Helper -> Byte 2

Bit 2 – DRL via Headlights
Bit 3 – DRL via Fog Lights
Bit 4 – DRL via LEDs

Yes, I know, but as I´ve said before mine has halogen headlights and this is what I get:

I´ve tried "DRL via front side marker lights active" which is the only one that allows me to set high beams as DRL, but the problem is that the original DRL in my halogen version stay on with them.Besides, coding here by Ross Tech seems to be mistaken, because if I choose the option "High beams as DRL" the main beams are chosen as DRL. I´m not able to see the way to turn the original DRL off when I set high beams as DRL...anyway, thanx for trying to help

    That is Correct.

Well the highbeams as DRL is the way it used to work on most cars, they just had a low intensity. Now full time headlights I have no idea why you would want that on a personal vehicle except for the safety aspect. I know where I used to work all company vehicles where set to have headlights on all the time on their vans for safety. It is supposed to reduce accidents. However I think with the Audi's if you have the LED lights, they work to attract attention more than headlights would.

We also here in EU (not in all Countries) need to have some kind of DRL on (by law) - and on the A4 it is via the LEDs, but this can be changed in Byte 2 which Lights the DRL is used with.

But what are the one you found meant for - the same as DRL or what?? why is there two options for the Headlights (Byte 2 and Byte 4)??

The one I found isn't just DRL. It turns on all the lights, the same as if you turned on your headlights at night.

can you get fogs to stay on as the same time as DRLs, In that menu can you check the DRL via Fogs and DRL via LEDs ?

HI David, Great work. Do you have the parking lights option there? They come on when you park your car an leave your indicator on on any side. It will illuminate the front parking light (wedge bulb) and the rear light on one side only.
Is there any way to enable these in vag com to come on with the DRL's?
    thanks

Well I don't have the front parking lights anymore since I went with the Euro lights so I probably wouldn't have noticed if I hit that code. Pretty well what I've told others with requests is find me a model that can do it for sure so I have some ground work covered. I need an idea of the correct module or what byte it may fall in. Not always helpful but better than me chasing something that can't be done.

There really is no magic to me finding this stuff it's just the time it takes to test bit by bit. So if anyone has any insight to the request let me know and I'll see what I can find the next time I attack the coding.

I thought that having euro lights meant that you have the parking lights as i described? Maybe different on the A4 but i thought they were standard on euro cars?

Maybe I'm misunderstanding then. When I installed E-Codes I lost my side orange lights so I am not sure what parking light would exisit on the side of the car. Unless it's the mirror.. Not sure. Think we need a new post and try and get the ROW guys in on it.

Parking Lights are the LEDs - just dimmed, and there are no lights on the side.

So Fogs lights on with High Beams = LEDs plus Fogs on? Because it doesnt say DRLS on via LED it says DRLS active etc. So you would need to run byte 2 right?

So you are you saying that one side of the parking lights stays on when the car is turned off? And you choose the side the lights work on with the turn signal stalk?

Thats what was rumoured happens anyways.

These lights are what 'I' we call the parking lights ie stay on one one side when we park on narrow roads. They are originally installed with W5W wedge bulbsbut the pic shows a led bulb.
Thses are fitted on the A5/S5's as per the above pic but the feature of having one side on is on a big majority of cars here inc the A4's

No Not active on mine. Pretty sure I have those bulbs though but they are orange. Could you send me a copy of your long coding for module 9? I have one already from a ROW car and with yours it may help narrow down the spot that it's turned on.

I wonder if the Left Fog Light On will switch to the other side with 'Headlight Converter' ON/OFF in the Car Menu.

It would be nice is the car type in question was mentioned

After looking at your profile deep down - I can see that you are driving a S5, but it would still be nice if it was mentioned more clearly.

That is why I answered that it is the LEDs that is been used - the same as the DRLs.

This is the A4 (B8) part of the forum, and here we have to expect that it is about the A4 - until different proven.

OK so what I found when looking into the programing tonight. I have not figured out how the Euro parking system works. I used rlarsens coding but could not make the parking feature work where you turn the car off and only one side of the parking lights stay on.

Morski this answers your question about getting them on as DRL's....
The lights circled in the picture were not turned on with my car. Even with Byte 2 bit 6 enabled. So a searching I went. I found that in order to turn the turn signals into parking lights you have to enable Byte 10 bit 0. Then you have front turn signals as parking lights and you can enable and disable them as DRL's (which is Byte 2 bit 6).

There is no coding information on Byte 10 so it took a bit of guessing. I noticed on your coding Rene your Byte 10 was set to 00 which means those lights shouldn't be on even though you have Byte 2 bit 6 enabled. If they do work it maybe a clue to the ROW parking light feature that I haven't been able to enable yet.

Boy I'm learning more about module 9 than I ever wanted to know. I may need adaptation coding to figure this one out.

Question for you Morski, what bulbs did you use to swap out the orange turn signal lights or does the S5 come with them white (LED)?
