Still can't beleive I figured this out. Guess Ross-Tech will just steal my work and integrate it in future releases :P

great work!!!! I think you because the Mod God way before this +1 rep if it was still here...
and how did you figure out what to change 09-Cent. Elec. Byte 16 to

PLEASE someone figure out how to make this happen on non-mmi
Maybe someone can figure out what coding/adaptations are changed by the hidden menu. That way, those of us without that luxury can still do this.

And also, are those the standard graphics for the 3G MMI - they look different from non-MMi/2G MMI...

The best 5 mins I spend with VCDS yet! worked like a charm.

Interesting that I didn't have tags for Front/Rear Footwell Lights Installed as your screen shot shows. I was still able to change the bit but threw me off for a sec. Could have been done in 4 mins ;)

They should be the standard graphics. I haven't changed anything. Other than the splash screen..

I'm sure there is a way to figure out the changes as Rene posted how to enable to TPMS without enabling the MMI menu. I just don't know where to look.

EXCELLENT!! I'm using the latest Beta Version so that may have been why I had those tags.

I'm really anxious to hear how you make out. I really don't see why this wouldn't work on the A5.

The really cool thing about this mod is it's not a B8 option anywhere. And this group gets to be the first to have it

Nice work! So can you control the lumen output of the footwells while moving using the MMI then?

On a tangent, I just pulled up your town on google maps! Holly effing shit you are way the hell at the top of the world! Man, do you have to take a blow torch to the engine block in the morning? I think I saw a polar bar on the corner of MacKenzie street & Millen st, be careful out there at night!

Aww, just noticed you edited mod 5f. Not available on the P-. Figures!!!!!

Oh and to answer the question of which Byte to change. I didn't know. What I did know was that generally 1 enables and 0 disables. Since the foot lighting is the only true ambiance lighting and had it's own vag code to enable I started there. I figured if 2 of the items where listed together in one Bit. then the other Bytes that had to do with the lighting were most likely there as well. So I enabled the Ambiance on the MMI since I had done that before then went to trial and error on what I believed to be the interior lighting Bit. I did not see any immediate changes with the others but when I hit the correct one the MMI became enabled from being grayed out. I'd put money that some of the other unused values are for the door trim lights available on the A6-A8.

So there you go. A bit of previous exploring and an educated guess found the right spot.

Yeah I am in the Northern most town in Canada. Nothing but hamlets past here.

Now wondering. For the 2G you enable in module 07 not 5F. I wonder if that would work.

Don't get ahead of me .... I am waiting for folding mirrors and the switch and trim panel. Ordered paid for and my supplier had them, should be here in 2-3 weeks I hope. Then We will see. What I can tell you is I was able to code the door modules, the convenience module and enable the MMI for it. So it does look promising. That's a whole other DIY though when I get the parts here. The next requested mod though is the Fire Extinguisher in the foot well so I will be finishing that one first.

Nope not big enough to be a town, a village or hamlet. I like the sounds of Resolute. Way farther north and nearly no people..

No I'm doing the Audi footwell install. I didn't mount mine on the seat since I wanted both bins. I have everything except 2 mounting parts. They should be here with the rest of my upcoming mods in a few weeks. Then I'll post confirmed parts and install.

Now for the non MMI people. I checked the posting on the TPMS and the menu item was enabled in the Radio module 56. The TPMS was enabled under Byte 8 bit 6. So if someone wanted to start enabling and disabling bits you may be able to find the correct one. Kind of how I found the right bit. I don't have the module so I can't do it but someone could go take a look in that module in the long code and see if anything pops up. If you do remember what you changed so you can put it back. I copied mine before I started then went to town. This can be time consuming with resetting the MMI after each change. I don't know if you need to but according to the instructions for the TPMS you did. So could take some dedicated time.

Yep - the non mmi radio is module 56 - that is where I enabled the CAR menu entry for instrument cluster (originally not there on P-)
cabal_san - you and I need to get working on this - there must be something in 56-radio to enable the ambiance lighting menu... I am going to refuse to believe this is an MMI only mod...

I can confirm that this works on the 2G MMI as well, the setting is located (in the hidden menu) under DIAG SETTINGS -> APK 0x01, 0x0B, 0x0C -> Interior lighting (extended), you'll want to select that option and it will turn from an empty box to a checked box. Reboot the MMI and under CAR you will see the option "Background Lighting".

    Thanks for the find David!

I have a premium plus w/o NAV and have messed with this module a fair amount. I was able to get the battery level meter to enable - Ross-Tech even has some "help" on changing the bits - I played around with the ones that should have been ambiance lighting but never got a new menu. After you post tonight I went into 09 and changed byte 16/bit 2 and get the 4F same as you. Went back and messed with the 56 car menu options again, but was never able to get an ambience light menu.

Thanks for the post anyway - hope some one else (rlarsen?) can give us non NAV people some pointers.

That is excellent news thanks for posting the 2G info. If you don't mind I will add it to the write up.

If anyone one with the 2G wants to take pics of the menu I'd be more than happy to add them to the write up.

Well if you program the module I listed and you don't have the option it will either take the programing and do nothing or tell you the code is out of range and wont program. I tried all the programing available today on one Byte of the ABS module with no ill effects so I don't think there is a self destruct program code on the car anywhere. Can't tell you its perfectly safe because who knows for sure. What I do know is I would try it, but you guys are at least within range of your dealer so if something went wrong you can just go play dumb and say radio don't work.. Fix it...

    Good find David!

No I don't know how to do it on a non-MMI. I don't have the module so I can't test it either.

But as David say - the MMI menu item should be enabled somewhere in the Radio unit like the Battery Meter (under Adaptation) or TPMS (under Long coding) menu items are.

The change on the unit "9 - Cent. Elect." should be the same on non-MMI.

I'll go and try it on my MMI high 2G - and see what's happens.

PS.: it is actual bit 6 that is been changed

The next requested mod though is the Fire Extinguisher in the foot well so I will be finishing that one first.
Have you decided which one you'll retrofit - the one under the passengers seat (like I did) or the one in the right foot well??

I have posted the find on the German motor-talk.de forum - and it can be confirmed that it is also working on non-MMI....

The coding should be this one:

    Code:
    [56 - Radio]
    [Coding - 07] -> Long Coding Helper -> Byte 8

    Bit 7 - Interior Light Settings active - (1 = active)
See attachment in the motor-talk thread: Lichtpaket Fußraumbeleuchtung

Master light switch will not control these lights at all anymore. They will work separately through the MMI.
If it is working as it does on the A6, then the foot well lights should only be active while the normal Ambient lights are active (when the light sensor detects that it is dark enough).

When you open the doors - then it is the normal cabin lights that is been activated.

I've now enabled it on my MMI high 2G - and it is working as I expected.

If the light switch is on position "Auto" - then the foot well light will be activated when the light sensor detects that it is dark enough (the same as with the red Ambience lights).

If the light switch is on position "Headlights" - then the foot well light will be activated too - at all time.

With MMI 2G - it has another name then with 3G

You can read more about the part # (foot well and under the seat) and how to install the fire extinguisher under the seat - and what you need to modify if you do it on sport seats. http://www.audizine.com/forum/showth...s-%28w-pics%29

Thanks Rene, looks like we have all versions figured out now. I knew you'd find the answer
I'm going with the foot well mount on mine. It was your post that pointed me in the right direction though.

I did try mine in Auto but I guess it was dark enough that no matter what I was set at the lights where on. Good job everyone. I will update the post with all the information so people don't have to read through everything to find all the answers.
