How much more vibration and noise are you experiencing and feeling with the track density trans mount? Is there really less noticable slop from the street density?

no sh*t! Neither carbotech nor stasis brought this up...I'll have to give that a try if I ever need to do it again...could save me an afternoon

There's certainly more vibration, but it's not overbearing compared to cars running stiffer engine mounts. You hear alot more of the gear mesh and what's actually going on in the tranny. If you're really trying to keep it streetable and quiet, just get the street density. but personally, I really like the communication of the track density

I use mine all the time on motorcycles when I put on new pads. Works like a charm, pretty quick too.

And he doesn't rub a bit on 285s....trust me, I have driven it.

Boot looks great too....seems to match perfectly.

I installed your old wheel the other day....just need to somehow find that gear knob and handbrake to match (or make my own). Here it is

They're fiberglas kickpanels I made back when I had my A4...I ported the whole stereo over when I bought the RS. There's a 4" mid and 1" tweet in each kickpanel, and an 8" midbass driver in each door. No rears, and a 12" in the rear trunk well.

    Some more updates:

-fitted a set of OSIR CF B-pillar covers
-got the alcantara shift knob, ebrake handle, and RS4 steering wheel installed. For anyone curious, the tt-s airbag does fit the euro RS4 wheel... I'm still waiting for the TT-RS wheel to get here (blame homeland security). Then the alcantara RS4 wheel will be for sale (currently spoken for), and my tt-s wheel/airbag will be for sale as well.
-switched out the 034 street density trans mount for a track density mount
-car is going to PureMS this Friday to have a new JHM lightweight flywheel and stg 4 (kevlar) clutch installed
-this weekend I'll be lowering it another 1/2" or so and rolling the front fenders

    Of course...no pics yet...sorry

Blake, I had a dream about your car last night. I saw it in LA and you swapped out your dash with a tan A4 dash, put 21"s on, made your grille pink, and you had a big sticker across the windshield saying "The Space Trooper"

This took an interesting turn the past few days

To get back on task... A couple weeks ago I grabbed both sides of the engine and was able to move it back and forth...the mounts aren't blown, but it was way too much deflection for me...so I picked up a set of stern (street ver) motor mounts and resistors from JHM. Got em installed last night and the motor is definitely in it's place now. I've yet to drive it since then, so I'll report back with impressions.

Nice. Did you end up just carefully jacking up the oilpan or did you figure out another way to keep the motor supported?

I believe there are two, maybe even three locations to hook a hoist to. Although having a jack support the weight under the oil pan isn't a bad back up safety measure.

I ended up supporting the engine from underneath, just to the rear of the oil pan... I did just one mount at a time, and it really didn't take much effort from the jack to keep the engine supported. The trick to them was bending a cheap 13mm wrench a couple ways to get to the top nut on the mount...

Went to Arizona Motorsports Park on Saturday...The track has been closed down the last few years due to noise restrictions from the surrounding neighborhoods... It's just re-opened and this was the first time I've ever seen/been on this track. Hopefully they stay well organized and it remains open for good. The track is really flat, 2.8mi, not much camber or elevation changes...but still challenging as it encourages you to follow the right line or you'll be slow... After my 3rd session, I was down to 2:01; on my 4th session, I did a 1:58. I'm happy with that

Here's a vid from my second session:

The thread that lives on......The question is though, will you ever be done modding? Avant conversion?

I love the recent additions to your ride and can't wait to check it out in June.

Glad I could help make your day

I'd like to think I'm nearing a milestone with the car. I've got a few things I still need to do in the next month or two (preferably before wuste), then I'm going to take a step back and really think about if/where I want to go on from there...been thinking about new projects.

I just did another carbon clean last weekend. Installed the JHM intake spacers & throttle-body heater bypass...which, by the way, is downstream of the throttle-body itself...I have a hard time believing that coolant line is to heat the throttle body. To the notherners...grow a pair and do the mod. I also covered the underside of the intake manifold and MAF housing in gold foil (courtesy of JHM).

Results - I forgot how big of a difference doing a CB clean can make...revs so much quicker when clean! As for the spacers...big difference in intake manifold temp. When people said "cool to the touch", I thought they were embellishing. After running the car hard, it's almost freaky how cool the IM is now... I should be able to do some logging in 2 weeks and get a solid delta (did some 'before' logs the week prior to cleaning). The RS loves cool intake air...anything you can do to support that is fully worthwhile!!

I should have more pictures to post later.

Sweet! Cold air is just free horsepower, it's lovely!

I'm curious to see how much more carbon built up since the last time you cleaned it.
