    Yeah, the service guys are pretty cool at my dealership (the body shop took it to audi chandler not audi north scottsdale where i bought it) so I will probably just ask them not to touch it unless absolutely necessary. I have been too lazy to track the high-beam issues to be honest lol. I didnt have my car for 3.5 weeks, so now that i finally have it back I will probably take a look sometime soon...I forgot to add the LED full brightness w/ parking light mod so when i go to do that, maybe i will take a peek...

    My journey starts tomorrow when I place the order with Jens. Hopefully with a little Florida help (NPuter) I can have my lights by next month. This has got to be the most useful thread I have ever read.

    Nope 2009. Might be a difference in coding but I don't think its a show stopper.

    i don't even think there would be a difference - maybe different coding for high-beams... I've done enough research on the coding for these lights, I don't think it will be a problem...

    wont be a problem. i have a 2009 a4 and i did this mod almost 9 months ago. vag codes worked pre ecu reflash by dealer and post 2010 reflash by dealer. what i was wondering was if my codes would work on the 2010.

    yes I know what you are talking about... Before his bi-xenon conversion, ASU daniel changed his halogen bulbs out to SilverStar Ultra White bulbs, that is why they looked so white..

    well what did you change on coding...

    you should have left everything the same except for the 4 bytes that needed to be changed:
    one of the biggest mistakes I see people doing is completely changing their coding from what they have to the complete coding someone has posted here... unless that persons car is EXACTLY the same as yours, you will most likely have problems...

    the best way to do this is only change what needs to be changed and leave the rest of your coding alone...

    what needs to be changed is:
    Byte 0: From 69 -> 26
    Byte 2: From 00 -> 10
    Byte 14: From 7F -> 1D
    Byte 15: From 5F -> 0D

    So I got both my replacement E-codes relatively quickly this time. 8-10 business days.
    The guy packed the lights in tons of bubble wrap, separate shipments with boxes within a box and somehow they were still able to puncture a hole through both boxes and through the bubble wrap.
    I really think these guys love seeing packages marked "fragile" "glass" and have some fun with it.

    What's ironic is both boxes require signatures yet the USPS didn't get one from me. Luckily my wife was off for spring break and took the items in, cuz they were left on the porch.
    One box still shows "could not be delivered" in the tracking status. If I was a prick I could play like I never received it and file a claim with Ebay and get half my shipment for free.
    USPS is really Unbelievably inept...

    So back to the lights:
    (L) now is in perfect condition. (R) has slight cosmetic damage to what looks like a false socket.
    I took off the Controller and Ballasts and the both look fine on both lights.
    I just realized that the LED controller must be taken off to access the turn signal bulbs.

    Anyone know what this socket is used for? Seems to just have some type of rubber flap, I am thinking if you have dynamic cornering lights this is where the electronics would plug in.

    Install is scheduled for next Mon.

    Mine was much worse on one of the headlight. Half of the false socket is gone and 1 clip totally unusable. Tried to claim insurance on shipping but they reckon its due to inadequate packaging :(

    So finally just installed it and it was fine.. the broken clip was one of the bottom ones but the headlight fitted securely.. so I guess that will do :P

    Part of me wonders if these lights aren't either 1) HOT or 2) referbish. There was some slight damage to might right head light as well. I mean, is there a stock pile of these lights laying around in Germany some

    I'm thinking the same. These are hot items everywhere I'm sure.
    Kinda like the previous model Nissan Maxima Xenon lights.
    Would get stolen constantly and they were pricey too.

    The two sets I got do look 98% new, but not brand spanking new like in Audi packaging.
    As long as it works and I get my insurance money, I'm happy...

    It also seems that some sellers just constantly have new auctions of Xenon headlights. Where are they getting these from, and for what price so they can resell them?!

    So I got my vagcom cable and software today. Sooner than I thought and I said.. hey let me give this a shot myself.
    Check my avi baby!!!

    More photos to come when I get the car cleaned up.

    I have yet to run the high-beam cables, maybe I never will.... if that's the case I may just snip the cross connects between the kufatec adapters and the hig beam runs.
    No errors when I pull the high-beam stalk, except they don't work.

    Here are my long codes for reference. I have a 2010 premium with AMI, Heated Seats and Bluetooth.

    Looks good! I didn't run the highbeams wire too so I just tape it to stop it from getting caught by the engine.

    Yeah I used electrical tape then tie wrapped it. I'm going to drive without it for a bit and see if I miss the high-beam or not.
    They sell this protective tubing for cars, I plan to get some of that as I'm wary of the delicate grey cables. I want to protect the kufatec adapters from rubbing during motion also.

    loooks good coolwater... but without the high beams would this pass state inspection???? or does NY not have that stupid yearly inspection??? another question, you got this professionally installed correct??? was the vag cable just a backup incase the stealership wipes out the settings???

    I did everything myself since my vag software and cable came before the scheduled install. I orginally wanted to just vag and test the lights. But that was so easy since I am computer savvy then I took it all the way.

    The highbeams don't error, they just don't activate. So I;m hoping they don't notice. I will goto a shop I know for the inspection. Worse case I can reinstall the halogens, recode then put the e-codes back. That's the advantage of not running the high-beam wires into the car.
    The headlights literally slide in and out once the screws are loosened.

    here is my entry in the B8 A4 wiki:

    Trip Computer on Premium Trim (U.S.): (Thanks to: Cabal_san - from AudiWorld Forums)

    It does not make sense why Audi disabled the trip computer on the Premium trim - there are no hardware limitations, besides no controls on the wiper stalk..

    Enable:

    17 Instruments, Byte 1, bit 2

    56 Radio, Byte 9, bit 6

    This adds and entry "Instrument Cluster" in the Car menu. Within that menu you will see On-Board Computer 1 and On-Board Computer 2. Within these menus, check whichever computer function you want to see on the DIS. Because the Premium trim does not have the wiper stalk controls to toggle between selected items, you can only have one item checked between these two menus. This checked item will be displayed on the DIS.

    do you mean when you have the xenons on? I know the glare from the LEDs is awful (just leave them on against your garage at night ** they go up the whole damn thing). Would having the xenons on cut the glare?

    More just when only the drl's are on. I have noticed other audi's driving around with just leds on are a lot brighter than mine. I'm pretty sure you can change the brightness through vagcom but not sure how

    The only brightness changes I am aware of and that I modified is byte 3 bit 2. See below:
    [09 – Cent. Elect.]
    [Coding - 07] -> Long Coding Helper -> Byte 3

    Bit 2 - LEDs remain at full brightness with parking lights (1 = active) <********
    Bit 7 - Turn off LED-strip DRLs with indicators (1 = active)

    when configured stock, they will be at full brightness unless you have the parking lights, or the headlights, on...
    the code above will keep them at full brightness with the parking lights...

    there is another code that will keep them at full brightness when the headlights are on, but I don't really see the point of this...
