very new here, so sorry for the n00b question... would it be possible to install these headlights into a different platform, like the C6?

I'm about to purchase an A6, and I really like the look of the newer xenon HID's, but imo the A4's version are 1000x better looking than the A6's. so was just curious if it's at all possible.

So I just did my halogen -> xenon conversion and am somewhat pissed to find that the seller had sent RHD headlamps. They were ecodes advertised within the US, as upgrades for US cars. Anyway, in addition to the beam patterns being wrong I'm also getting a "Bulb Failure" message in my DIS every time I turn on the low beams. vcds scan does not report any faults.

    1) is it possible to "switch" these to LHD (i read on some other non-audi sites that some xenon headlamps could change projection pattern with a physical switch)?
    2) is the bulb failure message coming from the LHD/RHD mismatch? or is something else likely wrong?

A little background, I did the prescribed codings and the lights do work, other than the above issues. I have not yet hooked up the high beam wires.

Anyway, thanks to everyone here for all the great info & support!

Would you want to sell your RHD lights? I'm from Australia and I'll be interested if you wanted to sell.

    Hey Bob,
    I'm sorry about the trouble.
I can take care of the message on DIS for you by sending you a control module unit but for RHD vs. LHD, I guess the only solution is sending you a new set of headlamps.

    Imashy14u, you've got PM.

    HI guys,

I have completed the installation of the headlights but my VAG com codes are wrong. My two large Xenons work but my LEDs dont work, and neither do my high beams. However, my turn signals work. Please help with me with the Vag Com Codes needed to fix all of these problems. I have been working on collecting everything for the last 7 months.. I beg you, help complete my project with the Vag codes.

Ok - I must have posted this about 4 times in this thread, but whatever...

    After conversion, you must change:

    Module [09-Cent. Elect.]
Byte 0: Change to 26 (for xenon lights)
Byte 2: Change to 10 (enable LED DRLs)
    Byte 14: Change to 1D (bi-xenon highbeams)
    Byte 15: Change to 0D (bi-xenon highbeams)

I hope you get it worked out...

Does this correct all of the problems? I heard many users have problems with the high beams.. So for sure this should is tested and has worked right? I only ask because the techs at Audi said something was wrong from the VAG com codes I got from Kufatex with the adapter.

Wow, maybe we should have started this thread by saying " DO NOT TRY THIS UNLESS YOU ARE CONFIDENT IN YOUR ABILITIES TO WORK ON CARS"!!!

    Danger Danger Will Robinson.

Seriously though, the VAG Com is a tool. Make sure you write down or do an Autoscan BEFORE doing any changes so you can get back to default. If you change specific BYTE coding, go slow and test a few before making lots of changes!!!!

SJ: Post your coding and hardware and maybe we can help you. Tell us what you did. Did you land the trigger wire for High beams? Did you put in both lamp ballast & LED ballasts???? Help us to help you.

Go slow and write clearly what you did on here. It's OK, you can reverse anything on here. Trust me. I have been where you are now, but it can all be reversed if something doesnt work.

First grab the new version of the software v 10.3 beta... It should auto update you, if not manually grab at their site. Then clear it and see if it returns...

I'm guessing that you enabled auto-leveling somewhere in the coding (did you change out the whole long coding, or did you change it bit by bit)
We do not have the xenon range-control module hence the error...

I have also successfully done a Halogen to Bi-Xenon conversion (e codes). Few pics.

    Hi Guys,

I've installed the xenon lights into a friend of mine's A4. The left light is a normal housing, while the right one has the AFS option on it and has the AFS controller (AFS = lights move left and right following the direction the steering wheel is turned).

Now I've recoded the ECU accordingly and is the same as the coding I have for my halogen to xenon retrofitted car. But with my friends car, he gets a warning message on his DIS saying "Right side light / running light". Now given that the AFS is on the right light, I assume the error relates to that.

Would anyone know what type of coding I should do in order to get rid of this error message?

Here is a pic of the message

So close yet so far, I got everything working including the high beams, but I'm getting this error as above pic.
I didn't see an answer to this in the thread...
    I need your help experts!!!

EDIT: Alright it is fixed now - I had to tone down the DRL brightness to 30%. Anything higher than that will give bulb out error.

the amber side markers are the yellow reflector thingies in the side of the US-spec headlights...
They are meant to light up at night, however, mine do not. I don't really care (I was going to turn them off anyway) I just wanted to throw it out there...

    Hello all,

I just did attempted this install today, but I'm having a problem at the last step.

The new housings are hooked up (including the wires for the high beams), and when I turn on the lights
they both come on, but the right light flashes on/off 2 times and then just turns off and stays off. And then
I get an error message that there is a light malfunction. Also, when I trigger the high beams, the LED's stutter
flash. The left light stays on. Does anyone have any ideas?

    Thanks

It sounds like you haven't correctly changed your coding...

Sorry about that, yeah I misinterpreted the DIY which mentions testing out the lights before securing them, which was before
the vagcom part of the DIY.

Yes, after correcting the coding it worked perfectly! :) I will post pics later today, I didn't have a camera with me.

Thanks again for the help, and sorry about that, I felt so noob when it turned out to just be the coding. I was freaking out
that I had crossed some wiring or something when only one of the lights stayed on and the high beams made
    the LEDs stutter.

Don't worry about it lol - that is what the forums are for...

It is interesting though.. When I swapped out my headlights, I ran them for a couple mins to see what happens w/o the coding... I experienced the same thing as you - both light comes on, passenger light flickers, passenger light goes out... Did you noticed the red flash when you turned on the headlights without the coding?

Nah I didn't see that, I think that would have freaked the shit out of me lol. Maybe an odd ballast discharge?

    Pics as promised...

But first, I'd like to give a BIG thanks to Jens (lowestA4) and ChrisMT79 for getting me all the parts I needed at a great price. They were super helpful during the whole process and I received the parts very quickly, and in great condition...the packaging was top notch! I would also like to thank Bunn for being a huge help during the install and providing the vagcom cable (and also shout out to his neighbor for some very helpful tools!). And last but certainly not least, thanks to everyone who contributed to this DIY, especially ASU Daniel and NPuter!

    And without further adieu... :)

Once again, thanks to everyone I mentioned, I LOVE my car's new look!! :D

Guys, does anyone know what the coding is for an A5 premium headlight to A5 Premium plus Bixenon w/LED?
Helping out someone that wants to do the conversion.

I would not be surprised if it was the same coding as the A4

I'm guessing there should be some instructions with the kufatec adapter.

Yes, I used the code in the original post (26001031063C00010000080000001D0D0F145208000000010 00000).
Getting those wires through the firewall and connecting them to the clips was one of the longest parts of the install lol.
