BTW, I've passed at least 20 cops already in 4 days and so far just a few looks but no ticket for e-codes...
I'm craving some tints now to finish the real clean look, but I just know I'm going to run into officer "hard-ass" one day for em.

Washed the car Monday and took a few pics. Not the best quality from my Blackberry, but it'll do for now.
The photos don't do it justice. The car looks 100x better with the bi-xenons, plus the e-codes really really go nicely with the black.

I took delivery of the new car today, as I promised these are the controller module part number and the long code for xenons

    Controller: 8K0 907 063 N
    Long code: 260050914034AF010001000000001D0D001D43080001014100 0000

Hey nickg, is yours 1.8T FWD ? If you don't mind me asking, what other options are installed in your car?

    Cheers

and the headlight housing part numbers are (not adaptive)
    8K0 941 003 D Left
    8K0 941 004 D Right

and there is an option in MMI that lets you convert the headlight, I assume RHD and LHD but the menu just says convert ON or OFF
when turned on, it lowers both lights

Just curious, anyone know what would happen if I plugged Xenon lights into a non-xenon car without the adaptor or recoding? Nothing at all? Bad stuff? Just getting bored waiting on Kufatec to get more cables in, it's been almost 3 weeks now.

um.... I WOULD NOT try it without the adapter. The xenon lights have a different pin layout than the halogens - different components inside the lights get different voltages/signal - mis-match those and you could have some serious problems (and probably damage the lights)

    without coding (and with adapter):
-xenon bulbs will not operate properly - they flash red when you start them, and flicker until they eventually turn off
    -LED DRL's will not work
    -High-beams will not work (obviously)

    basically, do not try it...

Gotcha, leaving it alone. Well, got my Vag_com today, just waiting on adaptor harness now. Another Q, without the Xenon's installed would the option even show up in Vag-Com? Following teh Kufatec instructions, 09->07->byte 00 doesn't give me any bits to adjust.

I just didn't do them because I had yet to use the High-beams in the 6 months I owned the car. So they were not needed.
I also wanted an easy way to swap lights if bringing in for warranty service.

    I came across this coding on a car with a P designation on a 2010 A4:

    2600D0914074AF010001000300001D0D0F1C27080401014100 0000

Based in the coding it appears they have HID.

    My high-beams work perfectly...
I'll check to see which module I have tonight...

Per previous comments - In order to have the high-beams work on this retrofit, you have to run two additional wires through the firewall, under the steering wheel, and into a connector...

Sorry for not being clear. I currently have halogens and I am considering the conversion--have not bought anything yet. I just wanted to make sure that my J519 would allow the high-beams to work properly. I am aware of the extra wire requirement and intend to to that as well--in for a penny, in for a pound.

not really - I had a shop do that for me...

Ok - I just checked my cent. elec. module and I have:

    8K0-907-063-N

so if anyone has that module, you should be able to get working highbeams with this retrofit...

I wonder if having homelink makes a difference - I have homelink and in one of the notes on the VAG com screen it had the word "Homelink" in it...

    Guys,

Could you summarize why High Beam works on some cars and doesn't on others?

Basically from what I understand is if your J519 doesn't have any suffix or B suffix then you can't put the value '26' to byte 0 to make the highbeams work.

There are many other suffix that's available such as D,P,N, etc that's available for B8 which will accept '26' on byte 0.

I happen to have a no-prefix controller on my car and have fitted the bi-xenon. I used the value '23' on byte 0 and the low beam works fine. Using the highbeam won't throw any error code, just nothing will happen.

I'm waiting for my controller with a D prefix to arrive and get Audi service center to fit it and see how it goes. Hope they can run the two wires too.

Many people cannot make the high-beams work, even with the with VAG code and the proper wiring. With that P version, your high-beams should work properly if you decide to run the wire.

Check out the link in nickg's comment (post #178)... There is somethin' funny with early versions of J519.

wires through firewall = biggest...PITA..EVAH! Haven't inserted them yet, afraid of breaking them. Lights threw a code after reprogramming. Got left DRL and right DRL errors. Went away after a couple of restarts. Anyone else get that?
