Hi! A friend of mine wanted to retrofit Bi-xenon to his Facelift b8.5. I made the retrofit with changing the wiring, no adapters needed. For those using adapters from kufatec, please keep in mind that the wire for the xenon bulb on the right needs to be 2.5 sq mm, which you don't have on the halogen wiring, so good luck burning your car down!!! Parts we bought:
-BCM1 8K0 907 063 DH (supports xenon + heated seats for Facelift), upgraded from CD
-1 left front level sensor 8K0 941 285 P
-1 left rear level sensor 8K0 941 309 F
-2x 14pin headlight sockets, 1J0 973 737 with pins (we bought them used)
-0.35, 0.5, 1.0 and 2.5 sq mm wires
-TESA heat resistant tape
-4x 6packs of belgian beer La Chouffe
All the wires have been routed on the original route and given the fact that this car has manual transmission, no passing throught the firewall was possible. Parts to dissamble: front wheel + wheel liner, rear wheel + rear wheel liner, washing tank completely (to avoid 1hour or cursing), headlights, front cover above the headlights. The wires from BCM1 are going behind the washing tank (that is placed under the left front wing) throught the wall, which has a plastic retainer and a rubber seal. I have routed though that space all the necessary wires (6x for left headlight, 7x for right headlight, 3x for front level sensor).
BCM1 sockets colors:
T17M - BROWN
T17N - RED
T17L - BLACK
Because this is facelift we don't need the J413 headlight range module, but the sensors plug in directly to J519 (BCM1), as stated:
G78 (front level sensor)
-PIN1 (minus) goes to T17l of BCM1 pin 6 (0.35 sq mm wire)
-PIN2 (plus) goes to T17l of BCM1 pin 7 (0.35 sq mm wire)
-PIN4 goes to T17l of BCM1 pin 11 (0.35 sq mm wire)
G76 (rear level sensor)
-PIN1 (minus) needs to be soldered to front level sensor PIN1 wire, because it goes to BCM1 T17l pin 6 (also 0.35 sq mm wire)
-PIN2 (plus) needs to be soldered to front level sensor PIN2 wire, because it goes to BCM1 T17l pin 7 (also 0.35mm sq wire)
-PIN4 goes to T17L of BCM1 pin 13
Left HEADLIGHT wiring:
-PIN1 of new 14pin socket needs to go to BCM1 to T17M PIN1, it's a new wire and it is 0.35 sq mm
-PIN2 of new 14pin socket needs to go to BCM1 to T17M PIN9, it's a new wire and it is 0.35 sq mm
-PIN3 of new 14pin socket needs to go to BCM1 to T17M PIN10, it's a new wire and it is 0.35 sq mm
-PIN4 of new 14pin socket needs to go to BCM1 to T17M PIN11, it's a new wire and it is 0.35 sq mm
-PIN5 of old 10pin socket needs to go to PIN5 of new 14pin socket (cut the wire from old socket, solder to the new wire that goes to the new socket). It is a ground wire, same color (brown) and has the same thickness (1.0 sq mm wire)
-PIN6 of old 10pin socket needs to go to PIN6 of new 14pin socket (cut the wire from old socket, solder to the new wire that goes to the new socket). It's the same color (yellow+black) and has the same thickness (1.0 sq mm wire). This wire plugs in to BCM1 T17M PIN5, which is already there
-PIN7 of old 10pin socket needs to go to PIN7 of new 14pin socket (cut the wire from old socket, solder to the new wire that goes to the new socket). It is a ground wire, same color (brown), on old wiring it is 1.5 sq mm and on new wiring it is 1.0 sq mm, so we are ok
-PIN1 of old 10pin socket needs to go to PIN8 of new 14pin socket (cut the wire from old socket, solder to the new wire that goes to the new socket). It has the same thickness (0.35 sq mm) but different colors (old is green black, new is blue yellow). This wire plugs in to BCM1 T17M PIN6, which is already there. THIS IS ONLY FOR VEHICLES WITH SPECIAL EQUIPMENT (i think US) and it is for LEFT SIDE MARKER LIGHT. I did not wire it.
-PIN9 of old 10pin socket needs to go to PIN9 of new 14pin socket (cut the wire from old socket, solder to the new wire that goes to the new socket). It has the same color (black white) and has the same thickness (0.5 sq mm)
-PIN10 of old 10pin socket needs to go to PIN10 of new 14pin socket (cut the wire from old socket, solder to the new wire that goes to the new socket). It has the same color (grey black) and has the same thickness (0.5 sq mm)
-PIN11 of new 14pin socket needs to go to BCM1 to T17M PIN3, it's a new wire and it is 0.35 sq mm
-PIN12 of new 14pin socket needs to go to BCM1 to T17N PIN2, it's a new wire and it is 0.5 sq mm
Right HEADLIGHT wiring:
-PIN1 of new 14pin socket needs to go to BCM1 to T17N PIN1, it's a new wire and it is 0.35 sq mm
-PIN2 of new 14pin socket needs to go to BCM1 to T17N PIN9, it's a new wire and it is 0.35 sq mm
-PIN3 of new 14pin socket needs to go to BCM1 to T17N PIN10, it's a new wire and it is 0.35 sq mm
-PIN4 of new 14pin socket needs to go to BCM1 to T17N PIN11, it's a new wire and it is 0.35 sq mm
-PIN5 of old 10pin socket needs to go to PIN5 of new 14pin socket (cut the wire from old socket, solder to the new wire that goes to the new socket). It is a ground wire, same color (brown) and has the same thickness (1.5 sq mm wire)
-PIN6 of new 14pin socket needs to go to BCM1 to T17N PIN15 (WHICH IS ALREADY PRESENT IN BCM1), but we need a new wire because the thickness should be 2.5 sq mm on xenon (and it is 1.5 sq mm on halogen). So use a 2.5 sq mm new wire
-PIN9 of old 10pin socket needs to go to PIN9 of new 14pin socket (cut the wire from old socket, solder to the new wire that goes to the new socket). It has same thickness (1.0 sq mm) but different color, old is green black, new is blue black
-PIN10 of old 10pin socket needs to go to PIN10 of new 14pin socket (cut the wire from old socket, solder to the new wire that goes to the new socket). It has the same color (grey red) and has the same thickness (1.0 sq mm)
-PIN11 of new 14pin socket needs to go to BCM1 to T17N PIN9, it's a new wire and it is 0.35 sq mm
-PIN12 of new 14pin socket needs to go to BCM1 to T17N PIN4, it's a new wire and it is 1.0 sq mm
-PIN1 of old 10pin socket needs to go to PIN13 of new 14pin socket (cut the wire from old socket, solder to the new wire that goes to the new socket). It has the same thickness (0.35 sq mm) but different colors (old is green black, new is black violet). This wire plugs in to BCM1 T17M PIN4, which is already there. THIS IS ONLY FOR VEHICLES WITH SPECIAL EQUIPMENT (i think US) and it is for RIGHT SIDE MARKER LIGHT. I did not wire it.
After removing component protection with ODIS online (I have account), I coded 09 central electronics and everything works like it was from factory. I taped the whole wiring with TESA heat resistant tape and routed everything behing wheel liner and wing, like it's from factory. The unused wires from old 10pin socket were cut and removed. The rear sensor wiring was routed in car, under the floor all the way to the front at BCM1. Everything is in place and works like a charm. Find attached wiring diagrams + 2 pictures from the job.
