    Soft touch button wiring problem.

Try to play around with the wire and the locking mechanism.

I had this problem before, 1-2 hour easy fix !

There are 3 different ways to open the trunk

    1. FOB key
    2. Key hole
    3. Soft touch button

There are THREE different mechanism inside.

Usually the Soft touch button "wire" will become loooooooooooose

Hey folks, I'm new to Audizine and rarely post on social media and other forums. However, this thread helped me understand my problem and so I wanted to take the opportunity to expand on the topic and maybe help the next person who has a similar issue.

In my case, I have a 2012 Q5. The trunk suddenly stopped releasing (using any of the three methods) without any obvious reason. When I opened my trunk latch manually, the power gate button then worked. I narrowed down the issue to the trunk release latch, and more specifically the little motor inside that releases a hook.

I don't know why it stopped working so suddenly. I called a few Audi and VW dealerships to price out the part and they were all about $200 (CAD) for the part alone. The problem was that I wasn't 100% sure that I had correctly diagnosed the issue, and they would not offer a return on the part (I only needed 30 seconds to plug in the four pin connector to confirm, but no returns as soon as you buy it...).

In the end, after some online surfing with the part number, I was able to find an aftermarket equivalent for about $50. It shipped within three weeks and installation took 2 mins plus an additional 20 to reinstall the back panel.

It's only day one but so far so good. Hope this helps the next person. Cheers,

    CH

Besides the B6 A4, we have a 2009 Q5. One of the door lock motors quit working, which is probably similar to the rear hatch mechanism. I found the motor commutator was simply glazed and not conductive enough. A simple polishing and also cleaning the brushes got it back to normal.
