I have a dumb but serious question: I'm on oem 18 inch wheels/rubber right now. If i go with 19 inch wheels and say 255/35 rubber, will my ground clearance increase? If so, by how much?
Reason for my question is i am considering springs but my driveway is on a steep incline so when i pull into the garage there isn't much clearance for the middle section of the car (front wheels in flat garage, rear wheels on steep incline= near belly bottoming out). I worried if i drop it any, i wont be able to park in the garage and that is a deal breaker for me. Please help. Thanks

I would search for a rolling diameter calculator to see the differences. If what I'm thinking is correct, you would compare the two rolling diameters, find the difference, and divide by two to find any ground clearance change (i.e. how much the height of the center of each wheel moves without the suspension changing). With the two sizes you have indicated (wheels/tires), you get an overall diameter of 25.71" for the 18" wheel (245/40/18) and 26.02" for the 19" wheel (255/35/19). Divide the difference by two and you get an increase in ground clearance of .155 inches....

none...wheels are made to fit the B8 with recommended 255/35/19

i am still dialing in the suspension and am going to drop it another half inch in the next week or so. i will take more proper pics then. no rubbing so far most likely because i have 245 tires. i am hoping to drop it some more and then assess whether i can fit 255s in there and still not rub. since the offset on the wheels is et35, it will be a close fit.

Hi All

Loving the look on some of the rides.

I have a 2009 B8 3.2 SLine with 19's at present. I have been offered a set of oem 20" ET37. The tyres are 265.35.20 from an A7.

I'm not really planning to drop the car but was interested to know if these alloys will rub the arches with the standard setup. Also if I decided to go the h&r springs route later, would there be any issues ?

Any help and guidance will be much appreciated.

18" VMR 708s, ST coilover kit. About 25 inches from ground to wheel arch.

Also need to mention - the new wheels actually eliminated the slight vibration that I was getting in the steering wheel between 60-72 mph, the same that people try to fix through the recall. I'm not saying this is universal, but I think it is worthy of note.

Thanks to Bobby and the team at PYSpeed on the great deal on the 708s!
