Wow, I totally forgot about this thread.

Really glad to see you are still at it.

The MAF on the single turbo V6 is definitely interesting. It took me some time to get mine figured out as well, although I didn't have trouble with weird readings at idle or part throttle, but instead the car would just backfire like no tomorrow when going into vacuum. Was getting some compressor surge back towards the MAF sensor when the diverter was dumping back in. My DV dump tube is like 4" long before it goes right back where the compressor is. Not the most ideal, but once I added 4" of straight behind the MAF housing the backfires disappeared on everything but revving in neutral, and I don't mind the gun shots when sitting still!

Remind me why you did the intake on the side? Advantages and disadvantages to both styles, I just don't remember your reasoning.

Like Mike said, you should be able to get the filter pretty damn close to the MAF housing; I would worry more about creating length after the MAF rather then before it. Also, flow straighteners can drastically change things. My car won't even get into more than 5psi of boost with a screen thrown on the inlet of the MAF (no tuning change) since it affects the readings so much.

What do you mean by intake on the side? Drivers vs. Passengers side? I ran it on the dirvers side because my car was 1.8T and i didnt want to make new transmission mount to run the downpipe on the drivers side. Hindsight, I probably should have. Since I am limited on space, I am hoping to go blow through and actually free up some room to move the coolant tank back to the area it should be stock. and clean up the bay a bit more.

I am really curious as to how the o2 sensors pre turbo are working out for you. This lc-1 emmulating thing is just not cutting it. I cant figure out how to get the ecm to trim both banks based off of one sensor. Any deviation and the STFT/LTFT goes haywire.

It is working well. We just didn't feel it was worth the trouble to run them post turbo, like you are experiencing. The EGT's have been good and the sensors are working just fine. Over 5000 miles on em and a lot of varying conditions.

Blow through is definitely a good potential option, especially if you are tuning from scratch anyways. It was something we considered and may mess with some more in the future, but the traditional setup is working well for us with this sized turbo. I'll be curious to see if something larger will have more idle issues due to the sheer size of the compressor.

Sorry to post here, Max. I've sent two emails in the last month, regarding the oil filter / cooler relocating flange for the 32V Audi A8 / S8, haven't had any response though.

I say you ditch the 2.7 and do a 4.2 single.

Truthfully I was going to do a 4.2 with plans of boost in the future. I called the local Audi tuning company back in the planing phase and he talked me into doing a 2.7. said he was making over 700WHP on some 770's. (AMD) He also said the 4.2 has a pretty weak bottom end.

So why not just go braided lines and get rid of all those adapters and stuff?

I Couldnt find bonjo fittings that big. The rails are drilled tapped for -8. You guys's FPR adaoter was -6, so that only leaves the fuel feel line, and the output line from the pump is -6.

    Ahhh ok, that makes sense.

Figure out what you are doing for a catch-can?

I am wanting for mill up a couple of enclosures. One for the catch can and one for a surge tank. I also want to make a couple fittings to adapt to the stock valvecover breather port to run to my catch can.

Motor popped a headgasket, and I decided to make lemonade.........

"chrome" powdered the intake mani, compressor housing and 034 coilpack adapter plates. Refreshed the valve covers with new powder wrinkle black, not the rattle can. I couldnt keep the stuff from teh rattle can from chipping, and it was hard to clean.

This was my first time using "chrome" powder, so it is not perfect. The chrome powder wasnt so hard to use, it was the clear that has to go over it that was a major PITA to use.

Progress has been made in the tuning department! A lot of help, and finally the car is able to trim both banks from one sensor, BIG THANK YOU Phila_Dot! This was one of my major hurdles in tuning. It was darn near impossible to get the part throttle and cruise fueling right since the STFT were all over the place and the banks were fighting each other. (I already was trying to tune from one sensor)

Next step is to dial in the fueling and then swap the MAF from draw through to blow through. I just ordered the HPX PMAS, and plan on running it in on of my charge pipes. I never really like my current intake setup. I planned to run the car blow through from the beginning.

For $260 dollars shipped I got the PMAS, wiring pigtail, and the aluminum flange. I should have it all in the next week.

Hopefully over the winter shutdown (21st-2nd of Jan!) I will be getting all new hot pipes TIG welded and this bad boy integrated into my charge piping.

Great sensor, and definitely what more and more people will be moving to. Great resolution in an 85mm housing, support up to 800whp.

I definitely would have experimented with a blow through if my car hadn't been killed. Be nice to run a proper blowoff valve.

Did you tune it or somebody else? I am really curious to see how far my calculated MAF curve is off from something I can actually use. It sucks that the thing only comes with a 30 point transfer function.

I peg my Hitachi in my 85mm a lot right now. I am hoping to run this in my 3" coldside piping, and still be good to go much past what the stock motor can handle.

Thats what I thought....I ran open dump on the car when it was 4cyl and it did get annoying after a while. The fab guy swears the new gate sounds way different and isnt nearly as bad. To me, open exhaust is open exhaust.

The charge piping is now final. Now all that's left for this round of mods are the tanks...surge/catch can and a coolant expansion.

Oh, and we are now plumbed for blow thru MAF....YAY!
