looks like the 2010 uses the same K&N filter as the A5 3.2...

was a pretty simple install (filter even came with instructions that show how to do it):

undo clips that hold intake to air box, undo screws on top of airbox...

upper half of airbox has OEM filter screwed to box... unscrew and remove.

insert K&N filter in place, put nuts on other end of screws from K&N filter and tighten (be careful not to over tighten and crack the air box).

reinstall top half of airbox, reclip intake to airbox.

    Re: Air intake filter?

This kind of filters (K&N, JR, Pipercross etc) gained relatively bad reputation here in Russia. They're almost useless for power and torque gains (well, make very few), meanwhile letting dust and dirt particles enter through it to the intake, increasing wear and tear of piston rings and cylinder walls.
Maybe, that's because of relatively dirty and dusty roads here. In USA and Canada roads are supposedly much cleaner, thus bad filtering might not be a big issue.
IMHO it's better to change your stock filter more frequently than thoroughly clean that wire-cotton thing, each time reducing filtering capability. I do it every 5000 miles.

Not a fan, as the K&N filters has a long history of being MAF sensor killers.

+1. It's difficult to use proper amount of oil after cleaning. Underdose will affect already poor filtering capability, overdose makes drops of excessive oil to make unremovable dust and oil deposits on a expensive MAF sensor.
