Went to the store to buy a quality fuel system or fuel injector cleaner and was dumbfounded by the number of products available. Its nauseating! I didnt even know where to begin. Just curious what the best is out there and more importantly whats safe for our cars.

as far as a fuel additive i've tried lucas oils injector lubricant/cleaner on my toyota commuter(249k) and also on my gf's lexus IS 300(108k). she claims it helped her gas milage but i am still skeptical and haven't tried it on the audi. good results with toyota though! my commuter truck runs great.

^ Not really, you can use it as a preventative measure at any time. I mean if you have less than 50K on the car maybe, but even so, it's 10 dollars and cleans your valves, injectors, it's a good idea.

With that said, I use the Techron Fuel System Cleaner.. Treats up to 21 gallons

Re: What Fuel System/Injector Cleaner Do You Use?

I wasnt big on the idea of fuel system cleaners either until my car started acting "moody." Ive changed the plugs, coils, DV valve and PVC valve and she still has a few quirks; taking a little longer to start, chugs a little when cold and sometimes chugs at full open throttle. I have 65K miles on it and the dealer did the TSB with the fuel pump cam and cam follower back when it had 49K miles. Ohh and no fault codes ( at least according to auto zone, sometimes i wonder if they know what their doing). The only thing left i can think of are the fuel injectors. Thats why I kinda started warming up to the idea of using a fuel injector cleaner.

Re: What Fuel System/Injector Cleaner Do You Use?

I have used Seafoam in my mazda protege 5 which is known for carbon buildup problems. It settled out the idle and smoothed acceleration issues the car had. I recently ran a bottle through my Yamaha R6 and the bike definately has a little more pep now. It can be ran through the engine in a couple of different ways, I would recommend checking it out

I buy it locally here from Napa. There are a ton of videos and how to's on the net for using Seafoam

Looks like Chevrons Techron is the most popular on other forums, followed by Redline, and Sea foam.

I think im gona try the Techron, Its already in my gas so i know it wont hurt the car, its proven to remove carbon, and lots of ppl seem to be happy with it.

I've used Lubro Moly Jectron and Ventil Sauber for years. I alternate one or the other every oil change.

Techron. I have a family friend who spent some time as a grease monkey. Company policy was to put a bottle of Techron in the tank whenever a customer wanted to "Clean the Fuel System" and charge them $120 bucks for it. The stuff really works and can be bought anywhere.

Use the Techron every oil change. In all of my research online, I have not seen any hard evidence to suggest that it actually does anything, especially on a newer vehicle with under 50,000 miles. I really don't know why I buy it.
