    lifter noise upon cold startup?

so ive been noticing that when i start my audi up in the morning i can hear a lifter type noise, once its running for about 20seconds the noise goes away, currently im running some mobil one 5-40 euro mix synthetic, and i know my oil level is full, i do a motor flush about every other oil change so im really wondering why its there upon startup, ussualy they make noise when the cars been sitting over 5 hrs, when i did have a oil pressure gauge hooked up it always had instant oil pressure upon startup, but ill hook one up and see how quickly it rises. also sometimes my cam chain tensioner makes a rattleing kind of noise upon higher acceleration

mine does the same thing, only it only last for about 5 seconds. its very brief. i believe it is because the hydraulic lifters dont have any oil (because the car has been sitting for a period of time) and it takes a couple seconds for them to build pressure. its normal.
Life is too short to drive ugly cars.

The lifters have to pump up. This is normal on almost every car with hydraulic lifters.

Until your valves start clicking continuously, you have no worries for ticking on startup, or for that matter almost all the odd noises that you see on startup.

If your really worried about it, throw some Lucas oil stabilizer in there. Should thicken up the oil to get rid of the ticking and give you better lubrication. About 1/4 of a quart would do.

Very normal. With the hood open on my 1.8T it sounds like a TDI when it is warming up to operating temp. I am using Mobil 1 0W/40 European Blend. 150K miles.
