    to remove rust, i'd take the calipers off and soak them overnight in a tub full of mineral oil, then take steel wool to them.

    Here's my take on this...

    As for cleaning, what I did because I was too lazy to completely remove the caliper, I bought the duplicolor caliper paint and a can of brake cleaner. (Kit comes with a can too). I bought the paint brush kind because its a little bit easier. I just sprayed the hell out of thecaliper with the brake cleaner and took a steel bristled brush and scrubbed the nuts off of the caliper. On a few tough spots, I took 320 grit sand paper and sanded it down till it was silver. Gave it a good spray down, dried it off and then taped up for painting.

    Painting was really easy, I did 3-4 coats of paint per caliper. Its really easy just time consuming. Took me 7 hours or more to paint all 4 of them.
